He is such a great teacher. However, if you do not write everything he talks about in class you may miss a few questions on the test. Talks fast he is a very easy grader but you really need to work for your grade.

I didnt like him at all. I dont know why but apparently he seemed to be a tougher grader this term. The final was hard. Most speeches are brainstormed in groups.

Comment:

This class has great online resources and great in-depth lectures. I would recommend to take notes electronically and keep them all on one document. He talks very fast and everything he says NEEDS to be in your notes (don't skip) tests will be easier if you do this as things he says will be verbatim questions. Overall very informative and helpful

Comment:

As a first-year, I was pretty intimidated. Mr. Anderson set the tone as to what I should be expecting from ANY professor. I loved his lectures, you can tell he's passionate. He did cancel a couple of classes, but the online resources were very manageable. Been a while since I've taken the time to thank a teacher.

The overall class will not benefit my life in any way (like he says it does). Grading is not clearly defined, even after multiple students asking him. Grading changes for each speech given, again not clearly defined (point value). He does not like when anyone questions him, and will not give a helpful answer. He is very passive aggressive.

He is a really nice guy and a VERY easy teacher, at least for my communications 111 class. However, he does not really connect with his students. I don't think he even knew my name.

Andersen is very understanding and is willing to work with you on everything. He understands you have other priorities, so he only takes attendance on a couple of important days. You also only have to do one speech in this class if you get a good grade on the first one. He also focuses the final on lecture notes, never text readings, so no textbook

Comment:

NEVER leaves notes on the door/ emails when there is no class. We never have class, he pushes up due dates without notifying the students, is a very picky grader on speeches. Dont bother emailing him because he will 99.9% NEVER respond. I would recommend any other professor for COM 111.

He's a good professor, and super nice. It kinda sucks that he grades the speeches that happen on the second speech day harder than the ones who go on the first day. Also, for the improv speeches, the grade of your entire group relies on one person, chosen at random, so beware of that.

Professor Andersen was a good teacher. He gave good lectures over public speaking and is straightforward about the way he wants your speeches to be. At first glance he may look serious but if you try your best you will see he is a really great teacher.

Anderson is super passionate about public speaking. Though make sure you are a fairly decent note taker. He talks super fast and goes through his power point slides really fast. I had to take four multiple choice tests. You are allowed to use your notes on them, and you will need them. His test's are fairly difficult and impossible without notes.

Really nice guy who will do everything to help you! Take notes in class and you'll be totally set for the tests. If you cant take COM 111 from him, WAIT TO TAKE IT. Trust me, he is so much easier than the other professors. And his lectures are pretty entertaining.

Never take this guy if you are a weak note taker. I got A's on both my speeches and still ended with a low B because his tests are based on his lectures in class. That info varies from class to class and tests will contain material he blatantly skipped.

He was the best for communications! Tells great stories and lectures are interesting! You can take the tests twice and he takes the better score. Very few speeches, and you never give speeches to the whole class (just the other people presenting that day). Would definitely take again!!

Super easy going guy! Tests are all on Moodle and are taken twice and he takes the highest grade of the two. No class on test days. Only had two speeches and only had to show up on your speech day. (Go the first day, he grades easier that day)

Comment:

I would take Andersen again because he was fun to listen to during lectures and was passionate about what he was teaching. Exams were difficult, but were taken online so had a couple of days to complete it. 2 big speeches during term. But overall a great professor!
