William Hammond is not as bad as others have rated him. Its just that his class is really boring and you have to be very patient with the way he teaches. I guess in higher level classes it has to be 95% of the students own efforts and so you cant rely on the teacher for everything. I had to teach myself most of the stuff and i got a decent A-

Horrible teacher. He doesn't do his job and teach you the material and give you examples in class. Instead he just answers hw questions. Dont get me wrong he knows his stuff, he just sucks at teaching the material. I'm a comp sci major and he's by far the worst teacher Ive ever had and not just for math. DO NOT take his class if you don't have to.

He seems to know what he is talking about, however, no one else seems to. His teaching style can be compared to reading a math textbook aloud. Rarely teaches the material before giving out homeworks, which are not hard if he taught the material in the homeworks but he doesn't. I am a math major and he is the worst professor I have ever had.

He's a very good teacher, the lectures are well thought out, and the homeworks are very well structured. Having said this the lectures are dry and he's not charismatic thus doesn't inspire you to do the hard work, which is why those wanting someone to hold their hand through the course are complaining.

Hammond is very clear and logical. However in order to do the homework it seems you need to enter the course with a working knowledge of the material. Refuses to help with homework and forbids collaboration. Believes collaboration ruins the learning process, which is just crazy. I walked after the midterm. Too bad because I wanted to learn this.

Horrible professor,do not take his class. He goes on about things that have nothing to do with the class and seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. He assigns HW but does not collect it or even check it and you end up never doing it. He wears a plastic glove when he writes on the board, weird!

one of the worst professors to ever teach. if you go into his class expecting to learn, you're in for a nasty surprise b/c you won't gain anything. you can study forever and if you don't get something he won't help you. he will just insult your intelligence until you're so fed up that you leave.
