Hilarious guy - if you are patient, you will learn something interesting an applicable to life. Sometimes difficult to understand. Very light spirited, can ask him about Chinese culture. Does not use Sakai. Isn't into the politics behind university. Genuinely wants to teach and forward his knowledge of philosophy.

Chan is a great Professor and a very good intellectual person who is interested in a wide variety of subjects. He is modest, nice, and friendly. I had a graduate course with him in 2006. It was a great experience.

Comment:
Excessive use of convoluted language. I had other professors explain Phenomenology better in an hour than Professor Chan could over an entire semester. Marking scheme is never fully explained, and essay criteria is vague. Don't expect to get your essay back before the final exam!

Very fair and easy marker, but goes on tangents too easily (especially about German philosophy) and sometimes he is almost impossible to understand.
