A really good lecturer. This guy know his stuff. Reading is quite substantial, but that is common for any large gov class. Lectures are easy to follow, and my TA was great. Grades are based on 2 short essays and 2 tests. Warning that the test questions are very challenging. The essay prompts are not that bad, and can definitely do the night before

Prof. King finds a way to take the obvious and restate it in the most pompous and redundant fashion possible. Tons of pointless and repetitive reading that essentially covers what he goes over in class (plus annoying iClicker quizzes). Take someone else for CPS if you must take the class. Waste of time.

Great lecturer, obviously very intelligent. However, makes his CPS class obnoxiously difficult, only two exams and two papers but the first paper is due the same day as the first exam, and same for the second paper and final. Grading really depends on your TA, but in big gov lectures they can only give a certain number of As so get ready to do bad

One of the best professors Georgetown has to offer. He assigns quite a bit of work, but is very transparent with his expectations and a fair grader. Professor King is very knowledgable and gives great lectures.

Professor King's class is a lot of work, and it's almost impossible to get an A, but he's one of the best lecturers I've ever had. His lectures are always very engaging, and the topics he discusses are relevant and inclusive of marginalized groups (interesting lectures on race and gender). A brilliant man, but not the kindest grader.

I almost didn't take King based on a Rate My Professor review, so let it be known he gives an engaging lecture, inclusive material (women and non-white authors), great scope of the class. I came out knowing so much sh*t about different countries and political concepts. Despite grades being tough, I enjoyed it and I feel better educated now.

Going to Prof King's CPS lecture is like attending a Ted Talk each day, which is great. Quizzes on readings every class. 1 midterm, final. Very, VERY hard to get an A. TONS of work outside class. Readings are hard and confusing - if you do them or don't do them you'll still fail the quizzes. Hard prof but SO smart.

He doesn't WANT to give As (makes it known, an A is a 96%) and that's what makes his class so hard. Grading criteria is not clear. Student participation in a huge lecture setting is a waste of time. LOTS of (sometimes redundant) reading. He's a brilliant professor and some of the material is interesting but definitely will not be an easy class.

He makes lectures interesting, presents material in a clear manner. I felt like I learned something useful every class. I thought the grading was pretty harsh, but that came from the TAs/the gov curve. King is really intelligent and entertaining, whether you're in a big lecture or a small discussion class (I've had him in both settings).

Assigns one 3 page essay per week (graded very harshly). The final is a 10-15 page paper. You could take a much easier proseminar. BUT with effort, your writing will REALLY improve. He also takes the class to the FBI base and invites his students over for breakfast. Discussions are interesting. The class is worth it if you're willing to work.

Professor King's class is extremely challenging for the average student. The first essay he returns makes you wonder if you are going to pass this class (you seriously might not). He is very particular about writing and so if you're down in that department, you better get some help fast! (the writing center is your new home). good luck, you need it

Professor King is the man. Makes you work in his proseminar Guns, but it is the best. Great in-class discussions, essays every week that really make you a much better writer. Also a very interesting man, really likes working with students and is always happy to talk to students about anything.

One of Georgetown's finest lecturers, even in a large setting like this course. Takes the time to get to know each of his students and really demands only the best from you. Learnt a lot from him and extremely enjoyed his character. Take him and you'll never go back.

Invested in the class and an engaging lecturer who does a good job of incorporating student input for a large class. An expert in his field and great guy to learn from. iClicker quizzes on reading assignments (can be long, boring) every class. Hard grader and asks TAs to be hard too.

Prof. King is great. Took his pro-seminar freshmen year and although it was one of my hardest classes, (expect long readings and weekly essays)but the readings were engaging and his grading leads to phoned writing. He is also super available to work individually and brings great opportunities through speakers and field trips.

I took Professor King's Proseminar on Guns and it was one of the hardest yet most rewarding classes I've taken. This is easily the hardest proseminar; expect weekly papers which are graded insanely harshly (F's and D's are standard.) However, King is very nice, willing to work with you and brings in very interesting quest lecturers.

Professor King is one of the best professors I've ever had. I was lucky enough to be in his proseminar my first semester of freshman year, and he has helped me improve my writing and argumentative skills for my entire college career. His grading is insanely hard, but that's just because he really wants everyone to strive for their full potential.

Professor King is a great professor with a good spirit. His class as others have said though is difficult, especially to get an A. His assignments can be confusing and grading depends entirely on TA. Mine was a tough grader so my grade wasn't what I wanted it to be. However, he did make a class interesting that I would otherwise find boring.

Interesting class material, fairly engaging lecturer, grading depends on TA. For some reason I found King to be slightly annoying- his mannerisms, writing style (extreme politics- what the heck?), etc. But he is obviously incredibly intelligent and knows how to give a lecture.
