Comment:
Kinner is very passionate about environmental engineering and has an outstanding reputation in the ENE field. Class consisted of sporadic guest lectures and tests covered material from these lectures. 3 projects and daily quizzes were the biggest part of your grade along with a midterm that she claims she scales (but I beg to differ)

She really cares about her students. If you pay attention in lecture and read the assigned material, you'll be fine. The exams can have some trick questions, but as long as you are diligent in you're studying and don't cram, you'll be fine. She hosts helpful review sessions as well.

Dr. Kinner is ON POINT. She can draw your attention and wake you up at 8 am. She actually cares. I cannot say enough good things about her. 645 is a real life experience - I actually feel prepared to have a job as an ENE after this semester. Be aware that the class takes up time: you meet 4 days a week, plus an hour a week with her& your group. GL

Great teacher. If you don't understand a topic at first, you are given every opportunity to get it by the exam ranging from review sessions, TA or Kinner's office hours. If you go to class, take adequate notes, and study a few hours for every exam then you will be more than fine

Hand scribbled course notes are useless. Can't believe she got away with teaching this class for 32 years. I didn't want to clean pop for a living, and still don't. She is shrill and does nothing productive during class lectures. Bring ear plugs as attendance is mandatory, via Iclicker. The worst

Attending lectures are a must if you expect to pass this course. This course's grading system was probably my least favorite part of the semester and left me aggravated and confused on several occasions. Rubrics are specific but not given to students until after the work is graded, so students must be specific and thorough on papers and exams.

Microbio was definitely a great class. The overlap between this course and 645 is definitely a major help especially if you are doing biological treatment on the 645 project. Microbio presentations are definitely a highlight of the course. Dr. Kinner makes sure you become an effective ENE this sem. The lab is great too!

Ohhh my... the Project. Definitely the most difficult portion of the semester. Don't listen to the people who say you can't have a life. You can and you will. Will you be at the library for hours with your group? yes, but the amount you learn from this course and project are invaluable if you are an Environmental Engineer.

Sampling and Analysis with Dr. Kinner is one of the best classes I have taken at UNH. While stressful you will learn a lot, and Dr. Kinner is one of the most caring and compassionate professors at the University

I love Dr. Kinner. She is an incredible teacher, funny, crazy, and really smart. The only thing I don't agree with is the grading: the TAs are in charge of grading and they are very tough on the students who do well (take points off for little things), while they are very easy on the dumber one (give points for little things).

Comment:
Lots of people here are saying she is "tough but fair." In fact, Dr. Kinner is tough and completely unfair. She leaves graduate students in charge of evaluating students on the merits of their writing. These TA's hold only an engineering degree and wrongfully deduct points. Errors made on exams result in extremely disproportional point deductions.

Dr. Kinner is the best pofessor I had in college. She is fair, helpful, yet very demanding. She stands true to her statement the first day of class that she will work harder than any student.

This class will annihilate you. The tests/quizzes are incredibly difficult, lecture is 4 times a week, you meet with her 4 times a week outside of class, and the project... You will HATE your life for 10 weeks during the project. She tries to help everyone and just ends up being unavailable all the time for questions outside of the designated time.

Great prof.- she prepares you, but the time commitment for this class is rediculous. Lectures are M,W for an hour and T,Th for 1.5 hrs. You are expected to go to office hours 2-3 times a week during the project. You will be meeting outside of class for hours at a time duinr the project. Her exams are 3 hours long. Your other classes will suffer.

Tough but fair. Just don't get caught sleeping in class! I wouldn't say her classes are overly hard, just demanding; exactly the way your future employer and clients will be. She is one of the best at preparing you for the workforce. Get help from English majors to edit your papers before turned in.

Shes a very smart and hard teacher but she is very nice and helpful as long as you ask. She murders any papers you hand in to her. There isn't an inch that isn't covered in red corrections. Enthusiastic about subject. Side note: she wears wierd clothing along with a large ugly polkadotted bow tie.
