Comment:

He seems like a nice person, but he gets very irritated with students. His quizzes were fairly easy but his tests were extremely hard and you have to really enjoy geology in order to do well on them. I had him during the COVID-19 shutdown and he upped our workload and made it even harder on us. Would not recommend.

Comment:

I did not like this class. Lectures are very boring, and the information probably won't interest you unless you're a geology major. Seems like a kind guy, just not a good professor (the type to get irritated with students.) Had him during COVID-19 shutdown, and he upped our workload. STUDY FOR TESTS. Class average for our 1st test was about a 60.

TAKE HIS CLASS. I am by no means a geologist but I am obsessed with historical geology now. He makes sedimentary rocks seem fascinating. Study his slides and his pre-made study guide and exams are a breeze. And you get to learn about dinosaurs, who doesn't want that.

Comment:

Savrda is very excited about what he teaches, even though it can be very boring at times. The tests are not hard, but do require a lot of name memorization towards the end of the course. Weekly quizzes are super easy if you go to class, and can get you lots of extra credit. Did not use the textbook at all and had no homework.

Comment:

Geology is not the most interesting class at Auburn but Professor Savrda makes it interesting. After the first exams it becomes fairly clear what you need to know to make good grades on all the other exams. His exams aren't particularly tough because 3/4 are multiple choice. I actually did better in GEOL 1110 than GEOL 1000 because of Savrda.

This class was an Easy A for me. But you have to be there almost every single Thursday for a quiz, but he tells you what will be on it every Tues. There is a study guide given at the beginning of the course, for the whole class. All the material on the tests are covered by the study guide. Easy to get an A with minimal studying if you attend class.

Dr. Savrda is an overall great teacher. He expects you to know the material but will not try to trick you or confuse you on tests. He also tells you what he will ask on the quizzes. He offers a lot of extra credit as well. The only con is that it is very easy to get distracted in class. Pay attention in class & you should be fine.

Take him! Go to class and you will get an Easy AB. Quizzes are weekly and an easy grade booster and tests are straight from the lectures, and he gives study guides. He is also pretty funny and makes class enjoyable. Textbook is not needed except for the extra credit test at the end of the semester

He tells you exactly what he wants for quizzes, and they usually boost your grade a lot. He has all his powerpoints available on blackboard, but going to class will still help you a lot. He's really nice and funny, and will help you if you need it. He's clear about his expectations and makes geology seem really cool.

Really nice guy. Gives quizzes to help boost your grade and extra credit chances. If you're taking this for your science core for an unrelated major I would pick him. Go to class and it's an easy B.

Tells you exactly what he wants. Gives quizzes every friday, but he tells you what is on them and they count as a test grade...drops lowest 3. Non cumulative final and an optional extra credit final. He isnt easy, but he tells you what he wants so its your own fault if you dont do good. B is a for sure A if you give a damn.

Savrda is an awesome teacher. Hes funny, interesting, and very helpful. You could not ask for a better teacher than him. His tests are hard, but just print out his lectures from the internet and you'll be fine and making A's.

He is a great teacher. When he tells you what's going to be on the quizzes, it is exactly that. Just study the notes that he tells you to print off. You should go to class so you don't miss any quizzes. This class was pretty interesting and Savrda is nice
