Comment:

Colin is an amazing prof who genuinely cares about his students, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic! He's super friendly and approachable. He's passionate about what he teaches. His lectures were very interesting, engaging, relatable, and very easy to follow. Because of his class, I learned to think about Canadian society in a whole new way!

Comment:

Colin is a kind, caring Prof. During the Pandemic he was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. He is not always critical, and this course hardly digs into Canada's problematic past. In fact, it is certainly a bird course that glazes over Canadian history and culture way too broadly for one to engage with material critically.

Comment:

Colin is hands down the best professor at York. Has so much insight to share but also encourages students to think critically and independently. I found myself reflecting on course material and his comments in my everyday life after class. He is very understanding and accommodating, tries to make every student have the best experience possible.

Dr. Coates is an amazing professor who really cares about his students. He is very friendly and approachable. Participation and readings are definitely important if you want to pass and get a good grade. The lectures were very interesting/relatable, and easy to follow. One of the nicest profs I've ever had! He makes his subject matter relevant and interesting to his students. Both lecture and tutorial are always lively with discussion...and music ;) I thoroughly enjoyed his class.
