Dr. Wells was the best professor I ever had. He is a wonderful teacher, mentor, and human. His classes were the highlight of my undergrad. He continued to encourage me through law school and LL.M. Brilliant and distinguished orator.

Had him in the eighties and he is the only teacher in my life who read to us. One time he read excerts from Tom Sawyer and he did all the voices of the characters and I loved it - I still love it! (and he sure loves Melville)

He literally lectures or reads for the enitre class. his tests are essay and are very long, however, if you read the stories and study your notes they are easy. He is always willing to meet with students outside of class if they need help. He is a very intelligent man.

Yes, he does want you to regurgitate everything on an exam, but my god, the stuff you learn in his classes is amazing. He knows the material inside and out. If you want solid info regarding literature, take his classes. I think he's great.

Wells is one of those professors who seems to think he is God and wants you to spit back the information he feeds to you. He has little imagination and no class discussion, but his delivery is very emotionally appealing. Cakewalk for cute girls.
