Comment:

Dr. Bass is awesome. However, his lectures are all in class and he doesn't post his slides on D2L but he goes slow enough that it's not hard to keep up with him. If this is not your style, take someone else. His lectures are interesting and easy to sit through. Not very many grades in this class, we had 4 exams and 2 short article summaries.

Comment:

Dr. Bass is very passionate. He takes time to explain concepts instead of just reading off the slides. Very old school. Lecture only, no study guides, 4 tests and a final is all of your grades. No HW. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. Tests are based off of lectures, do not need text book. I recorded most of his lectures and studied notes and did fine.

Comment:

Dr. Bass has only four grades the entire semester. Those are his exams. However, all the exam questions come from his lectures. So if you do not go to lecture, you will fail the exams. It's as simple as that. But Dr. Bass is an amazing professor and I would take him again. He does offer extra credit. Do this.

Comment:

I enjoyed having Dr. Bass as my professor for Biology. There was no homework throughout the semester and he only offered a couple of extra credit assignments so tests were a huge focus in his class. Take good notes in class and study those daily. It may be a bit tough but his lectures are amazing. You can tell he loves his job!

Comment:

Dr. Bass is extremely intelligent and a truly wonderful person. However, having a class at 8am four days a week was challenging. His classes are a full on lecture for the full time of class every single day. Also, he is a professor that gives you no homework. We only had 5 tests and 2 extra credit opportunities that determined our entire grade.

Prof Bass is fun to listen to, but you need to write down every word he says. His tests are directly from lecture and he informs you of that on the first day of class. He is easily the most knowledgeable Biology prof at UCO and goes into depth about every topic so that students will understand. Tests are hard, so take really good notes!

Comment:

I would not recommend taking this class if you need help outside of class to understand his material. Slides are not available online and the 5 tests are the only grades you get. I love school but had to drop this class because he was hard to follow and tests were super confusing. Emphasized a lot more on evolution than actual science biology.

Dr. Bass is a great man and you will truly learn a lot from him. However, if you don't have the motivation to get up for a 4 day 8 AM class, don't take him. This class is all lecture with 5 tests (including the final). On the first day he says that the textbook is not necessary but I would encourage you to buy it anyway in case you miss class.

Professor Bass is AMAZING! He is very old school. 100% lecture, but he has a SOME power-powerpoint slides for each section and he writes down key terms on the boards plus draws diagrams! ONLY 5 tests so study, study, study. He is a wonderful guy- his passion for he work is infectious. Ask him questions after looking over your notes, it helps!

Dr. Bass is a very good teacher. He is not necessarily an easy teacher, but he is very passionate about life science, and his excitement is contagious, and makes him a very good teacher. You could say he's kind of an old school teacher. The only grades are the tests. Tests are 100% from the PowerPoint he gives. You HAVE to show up and take notes.

Very lecture heavy professor. Likes to run off on tangents as well whenever he lectures. Came to find that much of the information we took notes over in class was never on the test. Learn to go over your notes a lot and study for the tests, as those are the only grades you'll get in the class.

Professor Bass is great. The whole class is lecture so take notes. Study your tests for the final. Know the vocab. Take good notes. You have 5 exams including the final and thats your only grade so study. Lots of quizlets online, if you study those youll do great too. Just showing up to class wont get you through it though. Cool guy!

Highly recommend!! Makes material very interesting and easy to understand. Book not needed. His tests are based off his lectures. If you come to class and take good notes you'll do good on the tests! Doesn't take attendance.

Instructor Bass is pretty easy. You will not need your book. He gives exams solely off of his lectures. He gives many relatable examples. For General Biology(without lab), his only grades are 5 exams. Go to class everyday and study before the exams and you will easily pass the class. He gave us 10 bonus points to add on one exam.

Professor Bass definitely made Biology enjoyable this semester. He always tries to make it easy for the student during lectures by providing visual examples and stories to help those who have difficulty understanding the material. While attendance is not mandatory, it will certainly effect how well you perform on the tests. Just read your notes!

Comment:

No book necessary. Evolutionary focus; if you hold Christian beliefs, this might be tough for you. But I hold Christian beliefs and still loved his class. 5 tests are the only grades; the 5th test is the final, which is 60% cumulative. 1 small opportunity for 5 bonus points to your final, which is very easy. He makes it interesting. Loved it!

Comment:

Dr. Bass is one of UCO's best. He doesn't spoon-feed the material, it is a very traditional Lecture-type class. If you take notes and actually STUDY, you will do fine! The class is 100% test grades, there is no homework or quizzes. Just tests. If you can't handle that take someone else. Made me become a better college student. I learned so much!

He is a pretty terrible teacher, the tests aren't worded like the notes so you must learn the material. There are 4 tests and a final in gen ed bio so good luck. Attendance isn't mandatory, he gives out three extra credit assignments. The notes don't follow the tests too much. If you take his class well good luck.

Classes are completely lecture, no discussions. He hardly asked for questions. He is good about preparing you for what is on the test. He isn't very kind to Christian viewpoints. I was pregnant during this course was appalled by some of the facts he was teaching about the growing baby, including that a heartbeat can't be detected until four months!

Comment:

Good ole' Dr. Bass. He is a great teacher. Very straightforward. He knew this was a general class that most of us had to take so he treated it as such. Gave us all the info needed for each test, no tricks. No book required. Even offers extra credit. Just study well and you'll do well!
