I don't know about his other classes, but for the lecture class BY101, don't buy the textbook unless you're really worried about the study guide. All you need to do is print out his power points and take a couple of notes on the slides. You might even be able to just show up for the test. Other than that, he's average.

David Jenkins is by far my least favorite teachers. His class is long (even tho its only 50mins) and confusing. He tests on obscure concepts and random facts rather than the key information. I Have taken him for BY 101 and BY 261 and he is all around terrible.... Until he retires, good luck with this class. He is not a good professor.

This guy will thin out your wallet. He's got a textbook that he's written himself for every class. You can't get his study guides or illustrations without the textbook; and his lab classes? No pre-lab information without the next edition of the same textbook.

Extremely boring class. Avoid taking this class if you can, or wait for a new, more exciting professor. I made an A, but dreaded every minute of it.

Comment:
Boring professor and class. Only professor there was to take by101. He always mentions in class his by111 class or compares the two classes, which is irrelevant to by101. The test are tricky and you can pass by studying the powerpoints if you choose, but I came out of a 101 class with a C if that explains anything; and I am an A/B student.

This class is ok, but Dr. Jenkins is really boring in class so to speak. A lot of people don't attend class but you can pass by just simply going through the notes without attending the class.

Comment:
This class is very difficult. In order to do even average you need to attend all the classes, take notes and study all the power points. The class is pretty boring and the tests are very difficult. It is harder than it should be for a 101 class. I would not recommend this class.

The powerpoint quick reviews are the best thing to study. The book and study guide only serve to reinforce the powerpoints so they aren't really necessary. Dr. Jenkins does put a lot of effort into helping study habits but you are just another student to him so don't think otherwise.

AVOID this professor. The most boring professor ever! He sits in class and reads his power points. His tests are VERY tricky. Lots of T/F that you cannot reason through. The sentences are phrased to encourage you to pick the wrong answer. Memorize his power points to do anywhere close to well on his tests. The class avg for the 1st exam was a 57.

Even though the lectures are very dry and to the point. Take notes on what he says and print the powerpoints out. Reading the book is only a good idea if you are interested in the subject not needed for the test. I don't know why he has a bad rep, he was very professional and to the point. Easy class in my opinion.

Very demeaning to students. Goes off on long rambling tangents. Takes off points for no explainable reason. High drop out rate in the class. Take only if you want an miserable semester.

ive read most of the comments that people have posted and i dissagree with most.. i have attended all of his lectures to date and have taken several of his test. the test are easy if you take the time to study his notes adn write down what he says.. it will also make your life easier if you print out his notes at the library in 3 slide handouts.

Comment:
This class is an easy A, although some of the tests are annoying because they are 50% true/false and are a bit tricky. If you want an A, come to class. You can get a B simply by studying his powerpoints. The text is a joke and a ripoff scam. He also shows a bunch of animations that make the class feel like highschool.

Not a very hard class. Read your slides and you don't have to show up to classes. I got a B showing up to class 3 times (excluding exam days). Text books are scams for him to make money. Don't buy the main textbook but get the illusion sets

He is very smart, but is kind of hard to work with. I had an 89 at the end of the semester and he would not bump my grade up. He also wrote the book and lab guide which comes in a package that you canNOT sell back!

He is very smart. He uses tons of power point slides; however, the first slides of each section gives topic objectives. Research the topic objectives and try to answer the questions in the useless book and you can make A's in his class. The book he wrote has tons of typos and errors. It is a true waste of money but it's required. Good luck!!!!

I dont know if another prof ever teaches 101, but if they do TAKE THEM.300$ for a book HE wrote?!?!?Crazy.Answer the "quick review"questions and study them.this is the majority of the test.U may need to attend class 4 the quick review in the lecture notes.overall not a hard class but the cost of the book alone is ridiculous.and it is full of errors
