I took MIS 740 (PHP, Javascript) taught by Dr Erickson, my prior exposure with these languages was minimal but after having taken the class, I am able now to hold my own. I consider this class one of the most interesting classes so far.

Avoid this teacher if you can. Class is entirely SELF-taught. Teacher does not teach you anything. Read the book and do the projects. Help out during class = no exams.

Comment:

He is a very sweet and understanding person. Although he does not do alot of teaching, if you keep up with your projects and assignments youll pass the class easily. If all assignments are done on time and if you help as a student helper you wont have to take any exams and end up with an A in the class. Overall okay teacher but very simple to pass.

Professor is more interested in delegating a certain amount of A's, B's, C's to each student, rather then teaching, for fear of losing his job. He outright told the class this after a meeting with the department chair, and completely changed the syllabus to make the class harder and limit high grades. Doesn't teach, take at your own risk.

Performed assignments as required. When trying to get questions answered you get "look at the book". Well I did, hence the question... Not an involved teacher. The guy I sit next to in class is a better learning resource.

I came into this class hoping to learn more about excel and access. But, the teacher never taught at all. I learned more out of the "helpers", the helpers taught the class to me. He never taught or gave examples on the material. This class is not educational unless you already know how to use the programs properly before even going to the class fro

Professor has a decent philosophy on self teaching, but I feel it goes too far in that he doesn't help students AT ALL. Also disliked that halfway through the course, he completely deviated from the syllabus. Tedious projects, coupled with HW assignments you were never taught how to do, and this class becomes a huge headache.

Make sure to understand the lessons before class, and volunteer to help. You dont even need to do the coding. He gives it to you. So what I did was just skim the lesson, read the code, and answered the 2 or 3 questions he asked. Do the tests instead of the projects, you will save yourself lots of headaches. This is pretty much a self taught class.

This is pretty much a self taught class. He will show up to answer some questions. Make sure to always "volunteer" to be a helper. You rarely have to do anything and it will really bump up your grade.

The class is pretty straight forward... He doesn't really read the essay, just wants you to make it look pretty so don't worry about the content too much...The final is probably the hardest part of the class but if you volunteer you don't have to take it...Do any extra credit he offers, he gives you a lot of points for it.

Easy if your somewhat familiar with word, excel and powerpoint. Volunteer to be a helper so you don;t have to take the final. Final is tough, goes over subjects not covered in the class, but it wont impact your grade negative wise a lot

Read recent articles and summarize them in class to get your A. It sounds hard, but considering the number of students that actually participate, it's really easy. Follow the "summary" format for the paper and turn it in early for easy grading! Presentation is the toughest because you have to work w/ other students.

This class was very easy, if you already know how to use microsoft office. If you aren't familiar with these products I wouldn't suggest this professor. Although he was nice, he won't help you at all if you're lost. But other than that it really wasn't that bad.

If you like to skip classes don't take this professor. There's no tests or quizzes but the real test is making it through every class without saying this is bull sh@@. Student presentations were awesome but a current event for a star, 50=A even if you max paper and presentation, is harder than it seems. Too much work for 2-credit class.

This is the easiest class I have ever taken! When he asks for helpers at the beginning, volunteer! You won't have to take the final and the helping is so simple!!!! If you get to know him on a personal level, he is the coolest most interesting guy ever! I got over 100% in this class.

Class is easy as far as you show up and talk about recent articles in the news nad there are no test. However, the professor is ridiculus in his grading criteria. He gives stars (???) for participation, give a max of 90% on two projects a presentation and a stupid paper. I am an A-B student with extra credit I just barely etched a B. Terrible Prof
