Comment:

Not a typical watered down for morons CSU type class. You needed to read, show up to class, take notes, study for exams and stay engaged and awake during class. Dr. Ramos was a great advisor, and an interesting and well read professor. I learned a lot.

He only pays attention to people who seem interested in his stories. You can write a whole book about his friends in Brazil after having his latin am. class. He is very strict and a hard grader.

What a great guy! His class was very inspiring/influential. True, his lectures often spin off topic-if you're interested in latinoamerica, you won't mind. You do have to be able to write well, but you can get away with just regurgitating his lectures if you take good notes. He'll really get you thinking. He's very congenial. I highly recommend him!

DO not take this prof. His lectures will put you to sleep, his assignments are very confusing. He does not lecture what is on the tests or assignments. he gets off track very easy. and he always goes over his allotted time. he is very nice and helpful but that does NOT make up for his downfalls

HARD!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS HIS LECTURES USUALLY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TESTS. THE TEXTS ARE INTOLERABLE( EXCEPT THE HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS..GR8 BOOK). FEELS MORE LIKE A 400 COURSE CLASS. P.S. THIS IS COMING FROM AN A STUDENT

Outstanding and very generous with office hour time. I get the impression he doesn't have a lot of patience with grade-grubbing. When I tried in class he was awesome and helpful, when he knew I was slacking, it was not particularly pleasant. He is a dedicated teacher. I am sad he is retiring.

Excellent prof. not the greatest lecturer but makes up for it by being a great advocate for students. Truly cares, also is very interested in challenging the students. Lots of work to meet high yet not unreasonable standards= great class experience worth every penny.
