For a finance/accounting graduate level class, Dr. Jim knows his stuff. he is a fair grader and provides constructive feedback. He wants you to be able to apply knowledge gained from this class in both your professional and personal life. He has a good grasp of the subject matter and does a good job of teaching. Comment:

I had Dr. Neubecker for several classes at CMU by choice. I got an A in all his classes, but I worked for them. He does not believe in 8th place trophies, so if you want your graduate degree to mean something as well as learn a great deal, take him for courses. He is very engaged and does it for his love of teaching. He is awesome!

Dr. Jim seems like a great person, but grades work unfairly with little or no relevant explanation. The class was scheduled for 8 weeks - but he ended the course several days before the 8 week timeframe elapsed. When comparing Dr. Jim to CMU instructors in the past he is below average. I would not recommend his class to anyone!

Keep abstracts from everyone's presentations-you will need them for final. Dr. Jim is an awesome professor and you will learn a lot from him if you pay attention and do your work.

Good teacher, but you will have problems if you do not complete the homework. He provides feedback to almost every student and holds chat sessions every week to highlight important points. Even gives hints about what will be on the test. He has high standards which should be expected of graduate students, so do the homework.

terrible teacher this has been the worst teacher I have had at central he"s no help and has attitude when he is wrong. don't take him way to much homework yes it's a masters class but its unreasonable he'll embarrasse you if you're answers are wrong if you're not good in accounting not worth your time he got mad at class b/c his syllabus was wrong

Great teacher, people only don't like him if you don't put in the work. If you do the work you get rewarded with necessary participation points. Exams are easy, he grades extremely easy because he WANTS you to learn! Great guy, can get really boring but he means well.

He has high standards, rightly so, of expecting masters degree student's to read the material and attempt the homework so that there can be lively class discussion of the topics and so you know what questions you need to ask to understand the material. I think he's a great professor, but if you don't put in the work, don't complain about grades.

He is a very nice professor and seems sincerely interested in helping you learn about financial management. I was not at all interested in the subject or inclined to think I would do very well. However, he made a lot of examples out of what is happening in the 2008 financial world and that was interesting and I passed. Enough said.

I loved him. Love his teaching style. He wants the best for his students, and will go out of his way for them. He also knows you by the end of the semester. Highly recommend him. Surprised that the other ratings were so low.

He babbles - so class is incredibly boring. Can be helpful if you ask him a direct question. Tests are ok. Presentations are easy - nothing to worry about. He is a nice person.
