Very disorganized professor. Be prepared to hear the same lecture for three classes in a row. Lost my test and harshly grades without providing any feedback or explanation.

Seems like a nice guy overall but seriously I can't seem to know what he wants from me ever. A lot of the information on tests are things that I don't remember addressing in class. My biggest issue with the class was that the powerpoints are useless so if you don't listen to EVERY WORD HE SAYS you're done. Make sure you can take fast notes!

I loved Doug. He assigns readings from a set of books that are relevant to the lecture material, but it's all really interesting. Be sure to read those as well as take good notes in class. Its a 4000 level course - so show up, pay attention, do the work, and study for the exams, being specific on your answers. If you like history, you'll do well.

Good material, he seems to like language and thinking about language a lot more than culture.

Power points are REALLY hard to follow. He expects so much out of you, make sure that you become professional at memorizing things. Tests are so hard. He says he will do a review, but didn't do any. He doesn't really care about the students. Tests are a big part of the grade. I wish I didn't take this class.

This was a very interesting class, and led me to pick my major. The information conveyed was fascinating. He often repeats lecture material day after day. His lectures were not structured, and were often very disorganized. Tests were unbelievably hard, and he often doesn't go over the material that will be on it. Maybe take it from another teacher.

The course material is very interesting however Jones teaching style is difficult to follow, era fix and his grading style is non-sensical. the tests are all short or long answer questions which essentially he wants mostly long answers and longer answers. I would not advise taking this class at least not from this professor (Anth of human mind)

While Dr. Jones covers interesting material, his teaching is erratic, disorganized, and lacking in structure. Being a successful student in his class requires being able to obtain information on your own (tests cover more than material provided and lectures), and being aware he is likely to post assignments last minute (night before.) Avoid.

Class is pretty boring, and his lectures are scattered and tend to be pretty confusing, but Jones is a good guy and it's hard to hate on him. He curves his tests fairly, and his TA holds review sessions the night before.

This class has UNPREDICTABLE tests...This class was harder than both physics and anatomy....content wise, absolutely not, ridiculously insane exams that I have no idea where most of the questions came from, yes. If you are looking for an easy A, don't go this route. If you are looking for a good class, also no. Basically just avoid this professor.

Doug is a really nice guy but his class is a disaster. His lectures are scattered ramblings that tend to trail off into nothingness and mumbles. This aspect makes the tests very difficult. The information on the test is not presented well in class lectures. There are several correct answers to each question. Tests are awful! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Absolutely the worst professor in the Anth dept. Would hardly post assignment, and when he did- they would be last minute. Expected grad level performance. No standardized way of grading. Unclear, lectures were boring and disorganized. Should not be instructing.

Horrible professor. Tests are hard with random questions. Expects you to know more in depth for an introductory course. Avoid him.

there are no assignments, the class is only weighted by participation and tests. The tests are unfairly hard, and are a big part of your grade. A good guy but the class is horrible, I would avoid

I had Jones for three separate classes and I aced them all. I don't see what the problem is. I thought he did a good job of making potentially boring subject matter interesting.

He was AWFUL! Extremely unorganized and uses no visuals so you have to be able to take good notes quickly. Tests were way hard and you never knew what to expect on them, lots of random questions. He doesnt give study guides either so it's hard to prepare.
