Comment:

No tests, but the Checkpoints are more advanced homework problems. If you understand the material, the lecture videos are not always necessary to watch. They are a good resource, but he can sometimes ramble. Each assignment really felt like a rewarding puzzle, which added so much value to the class. No busy work, but application of real skills.

Videos are easy enough to follow but pictures that he uploads appear illegible. Very short and not very helpful as far as communicating through email. Late to grade. Challenging class but rewarding.

Prepare for long lectures, an initially intimidating syllabus, and lots of practice problems. His textbook's online, and you can easily watch his videos at 2x speed. That being said, it's clear Prof. Wilson cares about your success. He's respectful, responsive, and as long as you put in the effort, you'll do well and learn a lot about Excel.

As an engineer I loved this class! Learning to use the solver in Excel was a lot of fun and Dr. Wilson does a great job of thoroughly explaining how to use it. If you watch the lectures and read the book then you'll be taught everything you need to know in order to pass the class with an A. It's certainly not an easy A though you have to earn it.

He is the best professor I have had in grad school! He is very helpful, and expects the students to learn. He is always willing to help, too! Would take him again in a heartbeat!

I took Rick's online class. There are 3 tests, 4 HW assignments (excel), and a bonus HW. He also curves the class. I honestly thought it was one of the easier courses I have taken. He doesn't cover material that other teachers do because he thinks its worthless. Make sure you watch the Problem Videos. They really help with the test. An A is doable.

This class was one of the best that I have taken at OSU because of its use after school. Professor is hard but fair and as long as you listen to the lectures that is all you need to know. I BOMBED the first test because I read the text but I still finished with a high B. Class involves some math but it is not terribly hard.

Professor has long lectures, and is often quite sarcastic. He is very old fashioned in his tests, and is brutal in his scoring. This is coming from a straight A student. I did the homework/practice problem and watch all of his videos. It didn't seem to matter. He's not a good professor if he can't teach to prepare for the exam.

Excellent professor! Keeps you interested! Not a cake course though if you don't pay attention, think rationally about the material, and do the practice problems. I highly recommended Dr. Wilson!

I'm taking the online 8 week class and it's awesome! Yes, lectures are a bit long, but as long as you can do the practice problems (which he solves for you in the videos), you can get at LEAST a B on each exam. Also, he gives partial credit on exams too. There's no reason to not pass this class with at least a B unless you just don't try.

Horrible to take online. Over an hour video you can expect to listen to about 35 minutes of useless information. Ex. His son liking jurassic park..then goes to say..."im not really sure how that applys to this course, but anyway" He is not very clear on how he wants homework done nor does he really help prepare you for the test and what to expect.

Am taking online lecture class and they lectures are a must. Long, boring, tedious and he goes on on different stories. Just listening to him tells you this guy is arrogant, and thinks hes better than everyone. He doesnt apply any of his own teachings to a curve and acts like is thinks hes a good communicator and efficient.

ONLINE 8 Week- TAKE THIS COURSE! Dr. Wilson is so nice and his online videos are very clear. I learned a lot in this course and always felt well prepared for the tests. Watch all of the lecture and do the extra credit.

I was dreading this class going in, as this subject had kicked my butt as an undergrad. I ended up not only making an A, but enjoying the class. Rick's a nice guy, and does his best to make things easy to understand. His only fault was the tendency of going off on tangents and making what could have taken an hour to teach take 3.

I have to disagree with the previous comments. His class was definitely challenging, but I learned a lot and the stuff I learned is useful. This calss did require som work, but I received an A in the class. It was a core class that I had to take but I still enjoyed it.
