Salty people here. The class is straightforward. Do the study guide which is exactly like the test, and there's no reason you shouldn't do decently well. The study guide is a MUST for this 100% written test, unless you're a little genius. This class can be put on the back burner if need be. Shes a VERY nice and intelligent lady.

I am taking HIST 105 with Dr. Whitney right now, she assigns a lot of readings, but it is all interesting. Study guides are like the test, and she is supper aproachable. She also is very interested in her topics so that makes the class so much better!! 10/10 would take a gain

I absolutely adored having Elspeth during my semester abroad. Study guides are long, but are exactly like the test, so you just need to memorise the study guide for an easy A. Grades papers very loosely. The class was great and not terribly difficult.

Lots of reading. She doesn't teach enough about the specific topics that are on the tests. Study guides are super long. Tests are short answers and then an essay question. Discussions are useless because they're 1.25 hours of hearing what other people think about the readings instead of learning exactly what we need to know for the tests.

She really knows her material but does not know how to portray the information to her students in an interesting way. Her lectures are long and boring, hard to take notes from, and are not organized. Attendance is mandatory but no one pays attention anyways. She gives you a study guide that is exactly like the test so it is not hard to get an A.

this teacher was useless, your grade is 3 "midterms" which she pulls out of nowhere. She assigns a lot of reading and then you get to class and she asks what you want to talk about? so 3 students sit there askikng random questions about history with no relation to the text. she doesnt post grades in a timely matter. this was such a bad class

Dr. Whitney was very kind and always provided opportunities for us to succeed. However, the course I took was on global warming so it was not very interesting and found myself falling asleep during lectures. Only 3 tests and no other assignments besides extra credit.

Dr. Whitney is very knowledgeable and she is always available for help outside of class. She will take the time to hear how your project is going and help you stay on track with feedback, especially since in a 451 class it can be tough. As long as you do the research and the work she will guide you and your writing to pass the class.

Really have to do the readings to do well in class unless you have a study group... Pretty tough exams for a 100 level class... exams are all short answer questions with a full essay that needs to be written in class... professor knows her material but pretty boring class. At least she's attractive for an older woman :)

This was a class on the Reformation, which is based on reading insensibly form the start. Which is what to be expected from a 400 level history class. Whitney is very sweet woman and very knowledgeable on Medieval History. The class consisted of 2 tests, 2 papers, and personal responses every other week. Also, there is one 3-4 minute presentation.

Dr. Whitney is one of the best professors I've had at UNLV. As a history major I will make sure to take classes that she teaches. She a ground-breaking professor with Gender in the Medevil times. Lot's of reading, but if you get a study group togehter it won't be bad. Gives Study guides before tests and extra-credit opportunity

This class extremely reading intensive. All exams are written and have to relate back to the literature from the textbooks. For a 100 level class it was very surprising. It was hard to pay attention in class but her laugh kept me awake.

I took Dr. Whitney for my pro seminar class, and I am very thankful that I did. No one looks forward to 451, but the way Whitney teaches the class makes it much easier. Instead of allowing you to procrastinate till the end, she makes it a requirement to write your thesis in steps. I would definitely reccomend taking her class.

Dr. Whitney really is a wonderful instructor. She knows subject matter inside and out and encourages students to share their thoughts/perspectives. This class required a LOT of reading,+2 exams(short answer) and 2 short papers. She is very helpful and respectful of students, wants you to succeed. Will definitely take again if I have the opportunity

Dr. Whitney was cool teaching. Her notes were on the board which was good. However there was too much of religous content which sorta made me unconfortable. Dr. Whitney, I apologize for being over critical/ analytical in your class. Over all you were a good instructor.
