So I had to take Python for my major and was actually looking forward to taking it. Sitting in his actual class was hard enough as all the other comments here say, all he does is follow an old PowerPoint that I believe he only updates to change the year its for. Also, if you ask him a legitimate question it is very rare for you to get an answer.

If you can avoid it, DO NOT TAKE CLASS WITH WYNTERS. He teaches the bare min of python if you actually care to learn it. He words things SO confusing and doesn't make any sense. Since the switch to remote, students had to report him to the dean for not teaching and leaving us to fend for ourselves for the rest of the semester. His tests suck.

Don't take him if you'd like to actually learn Python. I had Wynters my starting semester and it had to be my worst class. You ask him for help on the code that he practically makes you copy while he's copying it from a paper and he'll fix it and move on to the next thing, barely any explanation. Theres no study guide, he doesn' use BOLT for grades

As a senior at Bloomsburg i am writing this very honestly. Professor Wynters is horrible. I have missed 1 class and attended his office hours at least weekly and he gives NO HELP! He will literally look at you, shrug his shoulders and say "Knock on wood for a good grade". He even states hat his review are not helpful for the exam. DO NOT TAKE!!!

For the love of god do not take Dr. Wynters. He just makes you copy his notes. Even he copies his notes and doesn't know whats going on. I watched a 5 minute youtube video and learned more in 5 minutes than the whole course. Paper tests. PAPER TESTS IN A COMPUTER PROGRAMMING CLASS. useless. I took this for fun to learn python and I learned nothing.

Do not take this class. All he does is put stuff on the board and has you copy it. He literally does the work for you in class. Then, after he does that he gives u a test expecting you to know the stuff. I dont care how much experience you have with python, you will struggle A TON. This class is not recommended by myself and many of my friends.

He is really boring, teaches in very complex ways that the students don't understand, and doesn't help us figure stuff out when we have trouble, he just tells you to copy the code.

Seems nice but cannot teach at all. Sits at his computer and just types what's in his book. When something goes wrong he says "I don't know this worked at home".

He talks about his life and wastes your time. He then gives you an assignment but you are not allowed to talk or use anyone to help you or you get a 0. Finally, the test comes around you have no clue whats going on expect what model dirt bike he rides.

He just spent 45 minutes showing videos of him dirt biking. He stopped class to go off on a tangent about his website and proceeded to show his videos and tell his life story. He does this often, but not to this extent. Otherwise, monotone, boring teacher who reads off the sides (that he doesnt make himself)

It's really a shame that Dr. Wynters is awful because this is some of the most important/interesting information in the CS curriculum. I cannot stress how monotone and awkward he is. He will present ideas, in class, then you'll have to learn on your own outside of class because he cannot keep anyones attention. Not too hard to get an A, though.

He really is the nicest professor I have ever had, but he just does not know how to teach. Really doesn't explain things. Only good thing is he curves grades a significant amount on the exams.

His grading style is terrible. He grades off you copying his work in class which doens't teach you anything and the actual projects you do on your own are very difficult. I had to teach myself how to do most of this stuff. It's never clear what's important to learn in this class so the tests are very difficult.

The worst professor I've had in 4 years of college. He teaches by reading slides based off the textbook he tells you not to buy and making you copy his code word for word without encouraging students to figure it out themselves. He Doesn't teach you the problem solving skills required to be a programmer and doesn't encourage working with others.

This professor can't teach in an engaging way and is the most monotone person I've ever met. I've taken 3 classes with him and I've learned little to nothing. Luckily no one else is learning either so when we collectively fail an exam he massively curves the grade so everyone at least passes. You'll never use the book and lectures are long.

Comments on here scared me into taking Wynters but his class is very simple and straightforward. He passes out study guides before each test which are just like the test but with different numbers. He has online assignments to pull up your grade and goes through all homework assignments with you in class.

Before each exam he will give you a practice test with solutions. The practice test is basically the exam with different numbers. If you study that you will be fine. He tends to lack personality and is a tough grader. You need to study to pass. If you fall behind it is hard to come back from it so just keep up with the work and the class is doable.

Professor Wynters is TERRIBLE. I would not recommend him to anyone. I really loved taking math courses until I took his. He flies through notes so you never have enough time to comprehend what he said. Tests are impossible. He's a jerk. When the class didn't know the answer he once said, "Wow, you're some hard workers" in a sarcastic tone.

Comment:
Dr. Wynters does not necessarily teach, he simply goes through lessons and sample problems, solves them in a very confusing way, and then moves onto the next subject. He does not recognize when his students are struggling. Personally, going to class did not even help me. I taught myself the whole course.
