Dr. Merschrod is a kind and caring person, you can tell she wants everyone in her class to succeed. Although I found grading to be tough as well as lots of little assignments that she tells you last minute about.

Erika's a really kind person, and genuinely cares about her students' wellbeing and success in the course. She always went out of her way to make things easier to understand and lessen our workload! She can be a bit disorganized at times, but made up for it with her knowledge of course material and willingness to help! Great prof for 2210!

Her notes are a bit disorganized, but in a course like Chem 2210 that's fine. Gives students as many chances to succeed as possible, friendly and genuinely cares about students' wellbeing. Sometimes she does assume you know vocabulary you don't, but will always clarify if asked. Went out of her way to make her course as painless as possible.

She is such a kind and knowledgeable lady however if you don't take advantage of her extra tutorials and contact her outside of class you're probably going to do very poorly. Her notes are all over the place, her lectures are disorganized, and shes not the best at communicating the main point. Super smart but just not a great prof.

Erika was very unorganized and didn't post very many notes. It was never clear what was on the tests either. She's a really nice person and very nice but no good teaching wise.

Worst prof ever. Don't bother taking this class if Erika is the prof. You will spend half of the class going over how to navigate through D2L, highlights of the syllabus, or how to cope with test anxiety, and when she finally does decide to teach chemistry, she will take the WHOLE class going over 1 example. She is very unorganized .

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Tries learning catalytics in class but can't use technology-I missed one lecture in the entire semester and always answered the LC questions yet somehow my participation grade was C. Course was split in half b/w 2 profs 1st one had a packed lecture hall every time she never had more than 15 people. Confusing, rude, unmotivating.

Dr. Merschrod is brilliant and knows chemistry inside and out, but is awful at conveying her thoughts to the class. Her lectures are very hard to follow, and she doesn't put any helpful notes online. Very nice person and willing to help, but I would avoid taking her class

I would not recommend taking Dr. Merschrod for chem 1050, she is a super sweet prof, but her teaching style is poor. There are no set notes, she jumps all over the place while trying to explain one topic, and it is incredibly hard to follow along with what shes doing. Id avoid taking it with her if you can.

First off, she is a genuinely nice person (as long as you don't irritate her, which is easy). She knows chem inside and out. However, her lectures are awful, impossible to follow, and notes are very confusing. Does not tell you what is expected on tests, and test questions are cryptic at best. Always late, including for starting exams. AVOID.

This prof's lectures were SO CONFUSING. Her notes are all over the place, she never finishes an example, and is constantly asking students to answer questions. However, she is an extremely nice person, and will help her if you go to her office.

On the positive side. This prof is approachable and helpful one on one. She has a large list of things to help you online. She will make time to help you. The negatives, She is confusing in class, her notes are not clear, she often wastes time asking students questions, she does not give answers, does she give outlines for test. Go see her for help

I received a good mark in this course because of the tutorial prof, the help center and reading the textbook myself. She treats her students like a preschool class and puts students on the spot to answer questions. She is approachable, very nice woman, but anything she explains isn't clear at all. Avoid if possible.

You can tell she cares about what she teaches and if we are learning, shes's an amazing professor. I've never experienced a prof at MUN so willing to put in the extra time one on one. She also puts in a lot of work on the D2L page, which is extremely helpful.

Erika's such a sweetheart! She's one of the nicest women I've had the opportunity to be around. Sure, her teaching methods may be a little confusing to some, but if you put the time you need to into studying, then you'll have no problems what so ever.
