Professor Schneider has been one of my favorite professors I have taken so far in college. Many of these comments about his class are not completely accurate. If you put in the effort, prepare for classes, and actually complete the homework then there is no reason you can't pass with a B.

A very nice guy, but is not clear about assignments and what they entail. Definitely expects a lot out of his class. Nice guy, just not the greatest professor since he doesn't explain things well.

Somewhat have to teach yourself, but he reviews it in class. Class is more conversational. Figuring out what he wants for labs is difficult, but once you get in the grove you will be ok. Don't put off the lab till the last day. He may put you on the spot in class, but its good because it makes you learn Italian. Textbook is necessary to pass.

I would also like to quickly note that he is not visually appealing and i do not know why previous students made that comment. He is a 50-some year old italian man with long stringy hair and some hard-core italian facial features and good style. He's not hideous, but he's not as hot as everyone on this page seems to think he is.

Comment:
Hes a very pleasant person and seems super kind, but he does not teach the language. He follows the typical college class formula of "you teach yourself, then come to class to just practice what you taught yourself" and trust me, that formula doesn't work for language classes, especially 101 classes. If I manage to pass, it'll be a miracle.

Please stay away if you are not willing to work 20 plus hours a week on homework. He is unwilling to come down to your level of understanding and almost the entire class failed the final. It has been the BIGGEST MISTAKE to take Italian.

Great professor! He's funny, intelligent, and yeah, he's pretty sexy! Don't be intimidated, he is very nice. Yes, I did feel self-conscious speaking in class, and he's aware that people get nervous, but he is very helpful if you make the effort. And he's very knowledgable in the fields of literature and philosophy...I could talk to him for ages!

Awful, awful professor. Expect to teach yourself most of this class, and be prepared for him to make you feel incredibly stupid and humiliate you.

I took this professor for 2 semesters and he was really difficult. He makes everyone feel awkward and doesn't really like it when you make mistakes or mis-pronounce things. Workload is intense, but helpful to understand the material.

First semester of Italian is great with Federico, but the classes get progressively harder. At 202, the work he requires is overwhelming (6+ pages of busy work in the book on average every night, projects, "buddy system", etc). Would recommend taking an adjunct for Ital 201/2

Schnieder is a fun and interesting professor to have if you are serious about Italian. Be sure to be good at independent study, and make sure you are prepared to be in Italian classes for two years. His classes get progressively harder, and his teaching method switches entirely in 202. Be realistic in choosing your language.

I love Frederico! He's very entertaining and sticks to the syllabus well. It can be a lot of work because it's mostly teach yourself and practice in class, but I really enjoyed it.

Not only is he THE most adorable Italian man you will ever meet, but his class is fun and he works to make sure that you understand what he's teaching. As long as you study the book, quizzes and tests are pretty easy!

I have taken Schneider for all 4 semesters of Italian. 102 was the hardest. 201 was the easiest. Classes are somewhat difficult and you have to keep up, but he is friendly and helpful. Speaking the language is more important to him than writing it. No papers. I would recommend this class if you dread the foreign language requirement.

Well, first of all, he's one sexy italian man! If that's not reason enough, I don't know what is. At first it seems like he's always putting you on the spot, but you get used to it. Keep up with vocab and PRONOUNS!! Other than that, show up and gaze at the eye candy. There is no way you won't fall in love with him, he's so dreamy.

Schneider is a FANTASTIC professor. I was dreading the foreign language requirement at UMW. He is one of my favorite professors. He is helpful and conducts review games before the quizzes. The class is not easy but he does all that he can to make sure you understand the material. It is VERY helpful to do the exercises in the book before class.
