Took Dr. Sutton for Plant Ecology Fall 2016, and it was a tough course as plants do not interest me. I did learn a lot and you can tell that Dr Sutton is passionate about plants which made it a little easier. She handwrites all notes and they are not posted, so you have to go to class. Study Notes 3 tests and a final plus debate and paper for lab.

4 tests, a final and a paper. Hand writes her lecture notes, come straight from the book mostly. Tests are pretty hard--she grades really tough and a lot of people got way lower than expected. Tests are a combo of multi choice, short answer and essay. Usually provides a study guide that isn't helpful. She makes an easy subject harder/confusing.

Toxicology goes really deep in material but Dr. Sutton makes it fun. Three tests, 1 case study paper and a final. No quizzes. She uses the Tox Tutor site in lieu of the textbook but we barely used the book. She hand-writes her notes during each class but she doesn't keep them for long after lecture, so show up to each class and write your hand off.

Comment:
Dr. Sutton is amazing person who truly has a passion for Plants. She's very intelligent, but I found her teaching style hard. She using the camera to project her handwritten notes which are hard to read. Half the class is spent asking what a word is. There is so much detailed information on each test, it makes it hard to find a good study strategy.

Comment:
The exams Professor Sutton gives for plant morphology are very straightforward if you study and really KNOW the info that she lectured about. It's all in the lecture, though. Lab exams sucked- I'd suggest making many notecards w/ pictures on them. Made an A in the class

Dr. Sutton is a really nice, somewhat laid back professor, but her tests definitely aren't! She is very thorough in her notes and she posts a lot of helpful sources online, but her tests are extremely difficult if you don't have a good grasp on the material. Just study daily and KEEP UP with your notes and life cycle diagrams and you'll be alright.

The essays on tests are difficult but study the book and you should do well enough on the multiple choice to pass. Everyone I know who was in my class ended up with a lower grade than expected at the end of the semester! Not the worst class but the grading is horrible.

She tries to act nice but really she doesn't care. I heard such good things about her from other people who took her before, but she was horrible!!!!! She's everywhere when she teaches but if you study the notes she gives, you'll be fine.

She is nice and very friendly to students. But dont let that fool you! She is not nice when grading exams. She writes everything on the board and is sometmes all over the place (will forget something she wanted to say and remember later when you are done with that topic!).

Amazing!! Take notes (which she writes on the board), go home, memorize them and get and A on the test. You will not read that biology book at all. She is extremely nice and funny. Her tests can be a bit spicy if you dont study. Very inspiring professor. Chemist friendly!

Go to every class, pay attention and take good notes. Everything you get tested on is in lecture. Very helpful, almost TOO nice. Very Eco (plant person) so if you think plants are just food for vertebrates, keep that opinion on the DL. A professor worthy of note! Bio majors, take a few of her classes!

Class attendance is crucial to succeed. If you go to class, pay attention, take good notes and study, you will not have any problems. Her tests come straight from her notes. Tests aren't simple, but if you put forth the effort it's not impossible.

You should probably buy the book. The class & was interesting, but her tests were among the hardest I've EVER taken! I'm a B student, but I struggled to get a C in this class. Dr. Sutton is a really intelligent & funny person though :)

Don't let these other posts fool you. The bottom line is Dr. Sutton is a nice person, but she doesn't know how to be clear on tests. Her tests are the most difficult I have encountered. The questions are worded in a confussing manner, and some of the questions are opinionated. Stear clear!!!
