You can't show up to Dr. Paul's class and write what's on the powerpoint. You have to listen to the topics and concepts he discusses and form ideas from them. He wants you to LEARN and THINK, not memorize. He can get boring and he is quiet but he's smart - he's head of sustainability @ KSU. 2 tests and group project. No attendance, no book.

Comment:

I ended up getting a C but I in no way blame the professor. Yes, he is boring and the material is bland, but near the end of the semester I knew I needed to start working harder on the material by taking better notes and reading the book, and that's how I didn't fail. Take him if you are ok with studying for a normal class.

Please do not take this professor. His lectures will not help you when it comes to taking the quizzes and exams. He do post study guides but the study guides will not help much since it seems like it only give key words. His lectures are based solely on pictures and you can not hear his lectures. Please stay away.

I absolutely love science, but I couldn't sit through more than 20 minutes of this class before wanting to pull my hair out. Very boring. Teaches off pictures. Pop quizzes every few days at the beginning of class. I had to work really hard to get a B and science is my best subject. I would definitely not recommend.

Pop quizzes are 3 questions not multiple choice. I studied & made a 40 & 50 on first 2. made a C on the first test after studying. Doesnt use Vista. His "notes" arent notes, just pictures. His lectures are random and dont relate to the test info. I withdrew b/c i thought id fail and i have never made anything below a B so far in college. its ridic.

Dr. Paul does not take attendance but it IS necessary to take notes and hear all the lectures. I think if you just showed up and listened you could get an A. There are 10 easy pop quizzes and 3 multiple choice exams with study guides. Nothing else!! Take him!!

Dr. Paul really lectures like professor should. You can't depend on PP notes printed or avail for you. Its all listening and taking notes. You have to compare notes with other people to make sure you didn't miss anything, but it really helps you learn the stuff. Tests are all essay, but he gives study guides. Lab is easy. I love Dr. Paul.

Not a very good teacher. No power point or structure of any kind. Simply pictures. He just talks, not even a formal lecture, just talking. Tests aren't too bad IF you read the chapters and find a way to take good notes on his "lectures." Very unapproachable, seems nice but kinda flakes out when you try to talk to him. Will curve grades.

Pretty nice guy. It is hard to take notes in his class because there is no real outline, just pictures. His class made me much more aware of our enviornment and saving energy. Kind of boring class, but certain things caught my attention. Do the study guides and you should be fine on tests!

His lectures are from pictures, which can make note taking difficult. However, I liked how he lectured like he was in a conversation; it really made me interrested in the topic. HE gives study guides too. I would say you should take him if you have the chance.

He literally teaches STRAIGHT from Pictures he posts on his website and describes de pictures. no powerpoints which is kinda hard if ur a person who likes to have outlines for notes and such. Does RANDOM pop quizzes so might as well show up for class. tests are not too dificult as long as u remember what he spoke about in class. i never took notes

Take another prof, this teacher is not good. Literally lectures from slides of pics only and you have no clue what to take notes on for test cuz he rambles! Then there are quizzes like 1-2 times a week, on top of the 3 exams.

When I signed up for this class,I was not aware that I would actually have 2 teachers.The other teacher was Dr. Unwin.Unfortunately, Dr. Unwin did all the grading and he was rediculously nit-picky. They were both very unclear with what their expectations. The class had ZERO structure. I would NOT take either teacher again..

Would NOT recommend this teacher at all! Likes to take off points. Very unclear in explainations and what's expected of you. Very hypocritical and uncaring. Lectures are boring and projects are very time consuming because of ambiguous directions. Do yourself a favor...take someone else.
