Comment:

Had him for Statistical and Quantum. HW is 70% of the grade for all his classes, but you're given enough time to complete it, often given HW extensions. Lectures are great and in-depth (moving slowly so that we can understand the material) and the Final is very similar to the HW. If you put in the work, you should have no trouble getting an A.

Comment:

Took him for intro. to mechanics, and I would not recommend him to a student who has never taken physics before. He has a strong accent, and is hard to understand. He did NOT help us at all when doing problems, I had to "learn" from peers that took AP in High school. I dropped, and took this class with a different person and got an A. Avoid!!!

Comment:

Dr. Ling truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. HW is 70% of the grade and some of the hardest and time-consuming I've completed in my undergrad career. Form study groups- in fact, he encourages it. Though his class is challenging, you learn a ton, and he is very helpful. I am a much better science student because of his class.

Brilliant man. Long homework, but all directly from the notes. Final directly from homework. If you put in the work you could get an A even if you are not an A student. Extremely helpful and great knowledge of the subject. Teaches it through Dirac notation instead of ODE, because the method is 100 times easier and is the way its done in grad school

If you chose his class~~~ Oh my god!!! you will find you already get into hell, his home work is really hard and impossible. He doesn't know how to help you, by the way. although you can get A on you exam, but he just care about the homework!!!!!

Tough grader, always seems to block the important part of the board with his body, hard to understand, gamma's, r's, and v's all look the same, impossible homework if you have a life, but is very enthusiastic and wants everyone to learn

He is one of the coolest professors ever. He also has the greatest physics quote of all time: "In the quantum world there are strange creatures called operators. They walk to you without heads. Always on legs they walk to you."

Dr. Ling's accent takes a little getting used to, but after than one finds he's very helpful and actually quite funny. He knows his material and goes the extra mile for students regularly making excellent notes in pdf files that often better than text.
