Love him! And it is very apparent that he loves students. Has had a career w/the Feds so is more than just an academic. No tests, but some significant written homework. Participation is critical. One of the best CJ profs at UofL. :)

Amazing teacher. He is retired, so he barely teaches anymore, so TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN. I am taking another one of his classes next semester just to see him again before he retires. I absolutely love him and all his stories!

I like the class subject but I didn't like to hear in class. Ever time I ask question but I didn't get an answer. I just don't understand about what is the problem is? when e-mail ask the class subjects than said I will tell you when I see you. It was hard time to finish this class

Dr. Foster was a great teacher! He really does care about his students and offers to help you outside of class. His lectures are a little slow but they can be very interesting if you like history!

Doesn't use blackboard, or powerpoint. His lectures are just him talking to the class. His tests aren't easy, so if you're looking for an easy A don't take him. However, he is one of the most interesting professors I've had. Would highly recommend.

Dr. Foster is an amazing prof. He really cares about his students and what he teaches. Attendance isn't mandatory, but highly recommended. Book is used a lot sometimes, but then other times not at all. Classes are just him talking, no power points. Take him!

Awesome professor. Really nice and will do anything to help. Pretty much all test questions come from the book so make sure you read! His tests are semi-difficult, but he curves pretty generously. Gives extra credit sometimes for just going to class. Overall it's a great class. To do well on the exams you have to READ THE BOOK!

Very awesome teacher. He's very easy going and makes it very clear from the beginning that he's not going to hold your grade above your head like many other professors. He takes attendance randomly for extra credit. Most test questions are taken from the text, so make sure you read.

He's a really nice guy and wants you to do well. He lectures so it is in your best interest to go to class and take notes. Definitely buy the book; at least half of his exam questions come from the text. The class is a little tough but he breaks everything down so that you'll understand it. Very approachable.

Comment:

Foster is a great, great guy. His class is a little tough as he is very old fashioned (no use of slide shows, movies, Blackboard etc) and test rely 90% on what he says in class. Test questions are worded very confusing and the answers are very close to meaning the same thing. As a mentor, he's quickly becoming a good friend and loves his students.

Very nice teacher. Though he retired years ago and forgot to tell himself. Classes are easy and you can't help but love the guy. Just don't count on him for anything critical... he might let you down. A great teacher past his prime.

Very nice and approachable. You must read the book to get an A in his class. He has very impressive credentials, but he is not full of himself like most of the professors at U of L. He is grounded in the real world and takes interest in those who are willing to put forth effort in his class.

Dr. Foster is one of the few genuine CJ faculty members at UofL. If you show effort he takes a personal interest in helping you. He's a great teacher and mentor. Having problems with class or school politics... look him up.
