Comment:

The class kinda drags on most of the time but it's really not that bad. Write a couple speeches and try to be prepared for them. Personally, I get nervous talking in front of the classroom but you start to get used to it. Not a bad class in general.

Grades strangely and will slash your grade apart if you don't do everything exactly his way, which gives minimal direction to actually giving a good speech. Fellow classmates loved my speeches... it seems like he was the only one that didn't because even so, I'd get poor grades for incomprehensible reasons. Avoid Scatman McSticks if at all possible

I did well in this class I still did not like the professor. He is energetic but is quirky about going to the bathroom and gets upset about some very minimal things. He grades things strangely. Also for teaching a Multicultural class, he makes some off putting, borderline racal remarks sometimes without even realizing. Id avoid him.

THIS professor is terrible. He is energetic about the material but the way he presents his material is corny and uninteresting. the only one interested in the classroom is himself and the students that are sucking up for an A. A lot of favoritism, he is very unorganized. There were a couple of incidents where he forgot he assigned work...!

he's a quirky goofy guy that tells corny jokes and wouldn't hurt a fly. class is simple and sometimes boring but it's really easy to do well.

Had Professor McNiff for speech. He is a quirky older man who tends to have senile moments. I think he likes the females a little too much. This is an easy class, but he called out an exchange student for not pronouncing a word correctly. This student never returned. Anyway, this class is cake. Even if you hate speaking, like me, it was easy.

Honestly don't understand the fuss over this guy. Had him for SPE 010 and it was cake. I think the man is very bubbly and interesting to listen to. However, he'll let you know that you have a test about 2 days before it, which is very frustrating. The speeches are all relatively simple, and you only have to speak for maybe 5 minutes. Prof. McNiff is the perfect example of an old man, doing what he is told, and enjoys life as he is doing it. His classes are boring However it is a speech class. Does he ramble on and on, yes. Aside from that however, he is a nice and caring person that if you ask, he will help anyone! He grades presentations easily, And his tests are fairly simple

Loved Prof Mcniff. He is always in a great mood and his tests are so easy. You only have to go to class 2 times a week and you won't miss much. He likes to joke around and he is hilarious sometimes.

Absolutely one of the nicest professors in KU. He's helpful and test are a piece of cake. If you show interest in the class you can easily get an A or a B. I don't get how he doesn't have better ratings.

Great Teacher, only had to do 2 speeches 5 min and a group discussion, not a teacher that makes you talk alot in class in front of everyone, so if you dont like that then this is the guy to take, test are kinda hard just read book!!

Ok seriously, you've never met someone so corny in your entire life. I literally saw 8 out of 20 students asleep at one time in his class. He grades on a bell curve, plain and simple. Most people will get a 75, even if you follow his prompts to the letter. He should just retire, he's abysmal.

Tried to keep class interesting with daily jokes. Textbook was rarely used, except to cram before the test. Grading on speeches and panels seemed fair, but his grading on a written paper was ridiculous; he has arbitrary rules for writing which he stringently enforced, yet did not make clear prior to the paper's submission. Pointless class, overall.

Took McNiff for Small Group Discussion, well...I hated that class. That was one of the worst classes I have ever taken. He means well but it is so confusing, pointless, and he makes it unpleasant!!! Unfortunately, this class is mandatory for speech comm majors and he is, I think, the only prof that teaches it but try to keep your head up its rough
