One of the best lecturer at VT ECE department, he's energetic. Not so much homework but LEs (projects) are heavy and super time-consuming. NEVER WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE to do those LEs because you would ABSOLUTELY NOT make it.

Top notch professor! I had Thweatt for Intro to CPE and DD1 and enjoyed his classes. The projects and homework are crazy time consuming, even if you have digital electronics experience. Go to his office hours he will spent as much time as you want going over anything. The only downside is that he will over explain which sometimes leads to confusion

Unbelievably unreasonable. Don't even try to argue for an accommodation for any reason because you won't get one. If you're a beginner/amateur to programming, and you ask if what you've incorrectly coded is supposed to work or not, he'll make you feel stupid for coding it the way you did. Not encouraging at all, just condescending and arrogant

He is good guy and will work with you until you understand the material. You will learn from him, and if you don't, that is you own damn fault. He is tough though. You will work in his class. He is also absolutely unyielding when it comes to class policy. He makes no exceptions for anyone for any reason unless it is part of the class policy.

He is a nice guy, I'll give you that much, but he makes everything so much harder then what it has to be. He sends out 3 page email messages that are relevant to nothing and then he'll spend hours explaining why he is the way he is. Like I said nice guy, but a little unstable. I would go for a different instructor if possible.

I adore this professor! He's enthusiastic and funny...okay, and a little sarcastic at times, but you know it's all in good fun. What's more, he makes class interesting, and is always willing to explain concepts until everyone understands. If you can get a class with him, get it!
