Comment:

I took this professor for ES104 and he was pretty good, kinda boring but thats to be expected. I took him again for ES106, however he jumped around WAYYY too much to even follow along. His homeworks and quizzes didnt match up which made you automatically fail the quizzes. Doesnt take attendance, all slides are online, dont need book at all.

Comment:

He seems like a good guy but his quizzes can be confusing. His quizzes are almost entirely based off of diagrams that he shows you in class so make sure you know how to draw them and can explain them.

Comment:

He has a tendency to mess up his math or screw up when making a test, so when something doesn't seem quite right to you when you're doing math as a class, or taking a test, ask, because you're probably right. I think he might be a bit dyslectic, but he works very hard to cover for it, and is adept at fixing his mistakes when they are pointed out.

People have said that he drones, but I think he's great. It's easy to get interested in his classes (for me at least) because he seems so intensely passionate about everything he talks about. Super helpful and wants you to actually understand concepts.

Lets you use homework on some quizzes. He has 4 quizzes in class and drops your lowest grade, so he only counts 3. You have to show up and take good notes. He'll tell you what's on the quiz. He'll give you answers on the homework. Knows his stuff.

He knows his stuff but at times he can rant on and on about things. He grades tests pretty hard and if he lets you use the homework on the test only about a third of the homework will even be on the test.

He's a really nice guy, but a terrible teacher. Test questions are very unclear and his presentation style during lecture is very unorganized. However, if you take the time to go to his office hours sometimes he can clear things up. Nice guy, needs to work on how to teach.

Dr. Myers is a good teacher, but very disconnected from any type of student need or academic reality. His exam questions are ambiguous and totally misleading. He consistently tricks us into thinking one thing, but then marks us down for no reason whatsoever. His lectures sound good at face value, but final grades are arbitrary.

The thing people dont realize is that professors have nothing but contempt for students who are just there to fulfill a requirement. Dr. Myers is an excellent teacher, most of these freshman are only there to get rid of their science credits as easily as possible. Dont blame the teacher, blame the laziness of the student.

Lecture was so boring, but all tests were usually fairly simple if you study and understand the materials. Final was difficult, and the prof. had difficulty answering questions in class. He got confused easily and seemed to avoid responding to specific questions as if he didn't know the answer.

I hated his class. He never understood what he was teaching, spent most of the time trying to figure out what he did wrong and talking about how he's not a major in this or that subject. I ended up walking out of his class and going to a different teacher to tell me how to do a science problem that Jeff Myers couldn't do. Hated this class!!! Can I say it again? Not Good at Teaching Earth Science!!!

Very experienced in his specialty, which is paelentolgy. It should be noted that GS104/5 is the general science survey sequence, so he was probably outside his specialty area for much of it. Not a charismatic teacher, but likable and informative in his specialty.

I thought he was awesome. I have always been rather afraid of science. I thought it was boring and that I wasn't smart enough to learn it. He was great and I wish I could have taken more classes from him . I learned so much, and I loved it!

I think he is a bad teacher too. I fell asleep during lecture and I am a honor roll student. He didn' t give a clear lecture and his tests were on information not learned in class.

Worst class I have ever had to go to. I seriously had to bribe myself. Even with going practically everyday, his tests were still unclear and completely diagram based. Was a very difficult and unclear format. Overall bad experience.

Anyone who says that this guy is hard to learn from simply didn't take notes. Granted, he does post them on the web, but if you don't even look at them, how do you expect to pass? He did a fantastic job. His lectures were very clear.

Very poor instruction skills. Notes were online, so that was nice. Classes were incredibly boring, and the tests were diagram based, which I thought was strange. Overall bad teacher, had to force myself to go to class.
