Comment:
Professor Fleming was great! I believe this was his first time teaching Form & Technique but it was a good class. He gave tons of good feedback and is very laid back, I just wish we had more group workshops. As long as you read the textbook and do the assignments, you'll pass.

Simply the best possible candidate for a FICT II CRW course. At this point, you are supposed to have learned the skills and now write for critical feedback. Like said, most of his classes are workshops. Always in his office and enjoys talking about the craft of writing. Great author too!

Dr. Fleming served as my thesis director this semester. He was exceedingly helpful in critiquing my work and responding to my emails. He gives great critiques. Best CRW prof at USF.

Comment:
Fleming is a great, funny guy, who is probably great to work with one on one. His 'Novel Writing' course needs a structural change. The textbook is very formulaic and basic. He rarely teaches, so I had a hard time learning anything. The class novel felt like busy work that no one learned anything from. We should've had more chapter workshops.

Loved taking this class. He was very helpful, and helped us write our novels throughout the semester. Lots of group work (mini workshops), which was fun. Party at the end of the semester. Enjoyed and learned a lots in his class. No tests or exams. Highly Recommend!

Class is always entertaining and informative. The reading assignments, workshops, and craft questions all force you to examine your own writing skills. I've taken a lot of information away from this course even with it only being a 6 week summer class.

Comment:
nice guy who seems knowledgeable and tries to be helpful...can't say I learned anything from him though, which isn't entirely his fault as the class (disappointingly) is 98% work-shopping stories. I do wish he took firm control of workshops better as he tends to let the same obnoxious people dominant discussions in them.

Comment:
He tends to be very pretentious. He is very blunt and tends to grade tough. The reading handouts that he gives are usually very boring. I got an A, and the class is very easy and he is understanding. Its too bad that he?s the only Fiction 3 teacher, because he?s not the best Fiction teacher that I?ve had, in fact he?s probably the worst.

I took him for Fiction II, great professor! I felt a noticable improvement in my writing during his class. He's fair with critique comments, helps improve your stories with plot suggestions, and points out problem areas. He's also available to students during office time and emails. His advice is priceless. I hope to take another of his classes!

Highly competent and inspirational prof. Very knowledgeable in fiction writing but is never condescending to students. Not afraid to tell you when something stinks, but helps you figure out how to fix it. When he tells you something's good, you'll float for the rest of the day. It's pretty cool.
