Comment:

I took my first college music theory course with Dr. Brooks. Before that, I've already been studying music, composing for years on my own enough to test out of both Aural Comps. Was thinking I wouldn't learn much new things in his Theory I & II; couldn't have been any wronger. I nevertheless grew exponentially as a composer since taking his class.

Dr. Brooks is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I took both Theory II and III with him. Although I don't need it to graduate, I am planning on taking Theory IV as well. Theory IV was offered last semester with another professor because Brooks was on sabbatical, but I waited because I would never take a theory class with anyone else.

Excellent teacher. One of my favorites of all time. He makes Theory and Aural Comp interesting for everyone. I think many students take for granted the fact that we have a theory genius on staff. Really enjoy his views on composers, especially. He is hilarious and awkward at the same time, making class fun every period.

Not necessarily the coolest and/or funniest prof. on campus, but he knows what he's talking about and runs his classes very smoothly. Every now and then he'll do something wacky that makes class worth going to. Overall, a very good teacher.
