Just as others have stated, the class is difficult. Dr. Scott really makes you work, but it pays off big time in the end. I have a 1000% better understanding of Visual Basic and coding in general after taking the course.

I had him this Spring semester for both CIS 400 and CIS 411, he's a very good teacher and will help you a ton if you need it. He explains things very clearly and is very fair with his grading. I would highly recommend him as a teacher. The only downside is that he can be slightly monotonous, but it's OK 'cause he still makes it interesting!!

Prepare to step it up a notch. Scott is what a college professor should be. very technical with lingo and subjects. workload is heavy, but managable. countless hours spent in the CIS lab (those were the days) best for CIS400. would still be helping with projects at 8:00pm. very dedicated and fair. 251 was way more difficult

Despite spending approximately 600 hours doing 10, 10 point homeworks and 6, 50 point projects... i still managed to get a "C" in VB. After taking 12 cis classes, this was my only grade below a "B".

Dr. Scott is in my opinion the best teacher in the CIS department! He gives a lot of notes in class and his office is ALWAYS! open seriously i went by the lab one time at around 7:00 PM all the teachers were gone and he was still there! He is very helpful. The only downside to taking his classes are there is a lot of work involved! but i don't mind

A great programming teacher, especially compared to Naeher. Homework assignments provide great reinforcement to the material to aid with projects and tests. Class can be challenging, but not if you stick with it and try hard.

i had dr. scott for 2 classes. In 251 his tests were exactly the HW assignments just worded different--easy. 375 is really interesting, you learn how to make some pretty good web pages, test in there seem a little harder but he might curve if eveyone does bad. His door is always open :)-- he rocks!

Material in this course is dry. Gives difficult homeworks, but feasible. Gives good notes. If you take good notes and spend time on homework and spend some a decent amount of time studying for tests, you will do fine.
