Mark is amazing. This was my first writing class I took in college and he inspired me to become an English major. I always looked forward to going to class and he is extremely understanding if you cannot attend class for a legitimate reason. His feedback is very helpful and I am a better writer because of it. Generally an easy class.

This class was pretty fun and interesting! There is a bit of work, but it's not hard. There was 6 essays total (3 in class and 3 take home) and one term paper. Overall, it was not too bad. He keeps class interesting and has a very funny sense of humor!

I took him over the summer he has a very unique personality hes funny not boring. He didnt give to much busy work and he grades pretty easy. I was always late and missed & he still passed me. ;] Very chill and laid back ..take him.

Great teacher. He enjoys literature and critical thinking. He is very helpful IF you talk to him. Just Ask for help and he will be there for you. He is witty and keeps the class enjoyable. His choice of short stories are excellent. The Term Paper is heavily graded BUT he is great at taking it step-by step. Overall, he is an awesome instructor. GOOD

Mark is an amazing teacher. His class is not the easiest, but it is the most EFFECTIVE. I learned a lot from Mark, and it was not all flowers and rainbows. He does grade extremely fairly,although its not really easy to get an A. Mark gives constructive criticism that helps in becoming a better writer.And he is a really kick ass person, FUN CLASS!!

You will learn a lot about writing technique as well as have fun. Buy the book because it will be used. He is laid back and attendance is lenient. Max days to miss are 3 but i missed 5. As long as you talk with him everything runs smoothly.

Mark Mattoon provides students with the ability to improve writing skills. He grades students fairly and is very undestanding to circumstances that are beyond your control. If you want to take an english course that will improve your writing skills and get you ready for english 101 take this course. Just listen to class directions and you'll pass.

I took his class and thought he was an OK teacher. He gives you everything in class, he's readily available for questions, and thought his grading scale was normal. One thing is that he challenges the students to write about different creative topics, not just normal essays so take the class if your a decent writer.
