I have taken 4 classes with Professor Jakab Blazek. I thought her expectations and instructions to meet them were always clear. Prof. Blazek was quite helpful to me and was professional and personable when I set up appointments to meet with her.

This instructor is just about the worst one you will ever have. My GPA has always been over 3.50 and I received a C- from this class. She is rude and disrespectful to students and does not go over exams so you do not know what you got right or wrong. She assigns a group project with little explanation that is unfairly graded. AVOID HER CLASSES!

Case Management utilizes a great textbook. That is definitely a plus for this class with Ms. Jakab. What isn't great about this class? Ms. Jakab is not approachable. It makes it difficult to ask questions for fear of being humiliated. For future students: read the text & highlight key info, take notes, have a vet of the class look over your project

stay away from Blazek, she is debateabley the worst teacher at UMA. My boyfriend took into to human services with me about a year ago and he talked to her after r class because hes moderately to severely def and he needed accommodations. He asked her if he could use a tape recorder she said no. She gave him no accommodations. We both withdrew.

Mary Jo Jakab needs to retire.Her teaching methods are outdated and boring, and she does not care about students. For a social worker, she cares little for helping people, and I feel sorry for any clients who she's..."helped". She lectures empathy but displays none. She will accept other viewpoints other than those that match her own.

Unfortunately, I have taken 2 classes via ITV with her, and let me warn you, if you do not call and "check in" when she demands it, you will hear about it, and she does not care for even legitimate reasons. Also yes, if you do call in, she makes you feel stupid if you do not say something just right. Her lecture is constantly halting and repetitive

Horrible Professor!! She encourages failure. Avoid her classes if at all possible. She is demeaning. I can't imagine her as a social worker helping anyone!!!Shecertainly doesn't provide a learning atmosphere for her students.

I agree completely with what the others have said. She doesn't care at all about the students and is extrememly rude- laughing at things she says while the rest of the class is in horror at her stupidity! She should definetley retire... who would ever want her for a teacher? Let alone a therapist, she's definetly hurt more people then she's helped.

MJ CREATES AN EXTREMELY NEGATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AS EVIDENCED BY THE COMPLAINTS/HORROR STORIES STATED HERE. I CAN ATTEST TO MOST OF THESE STATEMENTS-RUDE,POOR ATTITUDE, MARKING POINTS OFF ON A PROJECT, APPARENTLY FOR THE HECK OF IT. I am a straight A student, Blazek gave me a C. Her lectures, homework, and study guides do not match the info needed for her tests. Good luck to anyone who is unfortunate enough to have to take any of the she devils courses. Her courses really are lecture courses. She does NOT want or appreciate your input so don't bother sharing.

What a cushy job she has with on-line classes. She sends you a cylabus and a good outline on the readings however the readings and assighnments are brutal,than she disapears.She only points out weaknesses, she never says anything possitive.She is an embaressment to the learning environment. She would better serve future students if she retired.

This class is painful, She is intolerable to talk to! She has no interest in listening to what you say, to the point that it seems she is disgusted with you for trying to speak to her. Her tests........HORRIBLE! I have never had a professor give a test that covered very little if any of the important aspects of the class. She wants you to fail!!
