Professor Peirce is a very sweet woman but she expects a lot from her students. If you are a Classics major, she is the best choice, but as someone taking Latin for the foreign language requirement, maybe reconsider taking Latin.

Sarah is literally the nicest woman ever-- if Latin is your major or you have never taken it before though, do not take this class or you will not fully enrich/understand anything. As nice and knowledgeable as Sarah is, the class is super slow and lecture heavy. However, if you show up she literally makes every effort to you get you that A.

Professor Peirce is really caring and always accessible outside of class for anything you need. She keeps her lectures interesting with fun anecdotes and always asks the class for opinions about when things should be due or what we should do next. There are weekly quizzes but they are just based on the readings done that week and they are easy.

Professor Peirce is an odd professor. For one, her class was incredibly boring. It's clear that she knows a lot in her field, but her lectures were just not up to par. That being said, it's pretty easy to get an A as long as you do the readings yourself. The best thing about having her as a prof is hearing her crazy stories and anecdotes.

Sweet, soft-spoken lady, very passionate about her class. However, I took this for core req. so I found class to be long & boring. Class itself is easy, but midterm/final are VERY hard & specific. also 1 research paper. gives extra credit for participation/attendance. lots of office hours. not too hard but don't take unless interested in Classics

Professor Peirce gives 4 take home quizzes that are really difficult. They take days to complete if you want a passing grade. She makes sure everyone knows obscure details. Gives a paper for the final but has you submit several revisions in order to get a good grade. Her class was ok,just required way too much time. She does offer a lot of help tho

The class basically consists of sitting there and her giving a complete summary of what the assigned reading was, but with a speaking volume that would have a field mouse asking her to speak up. I literally did not hear half of what she said the whole semester. Classes drag on. Quizzes are take home or in office hours, but very specific questions

She is very confusing. Professor Peirce does not prepare you for the next level of Greek. However, she is willing to work with you during her office hours. I would suggest meeting with her. There is extra credit for attending every class.

Sarah Peirce is extremely well versed in her field, not to mention a sweet woman. However, her teaching skills are non-existent and her demands upon her students are not grounded in reality, e.g. she had us writing papers through Christmas vacation after the class had ended. Her lectures were disorganized and prone to rambling.

Dr. Peirce is an awesome professor. She's got a crazy sense of humor that is entertaining especially when she goes off on tangents. She's very helpful and is available all the time if you find yourself struggling. There are weekly quizzes which are extremely easy. Showing up to every class gets you a +5 on your final grade.

She would just sit at her desk and read the historical sources. Very much in her own world - she clearly loved the subject. Very difficult to gauge what would be necessary to remember for assignments. No midterm just 4 take home assignments and a take home final. Very available for answering questions even if it is the day the assignment is due.

She is a brilliant professor who wants her students to do well. Even if the workload may seem a little high at times, if you show her that you are trying your best, she will definitely try her best to reward you for your efforts and you can always make a grade. I'm a horrible student but I got an A in her class because she helped me out so much.

Dr. Peirce is a wonderful, friendly, funny, and extremely helpful lady who is obviously an expert in her field. Her ability to transmit her knowledge to her students is a completely different story. Most classes, I feel that I learn nothing. Her lectures are extremely dry except for occasional jokes. It is a fairly easy course, though.

The woman is literally crazy, in the best kind of way. She can be a little hard to follow, but her class is a great experience - she has some incredible quips about the ancient Greeks. I had her for honors ancient history, which was entirely papers, and she was incredibly helpful with those both in email exchange (fast response) and office visits.

Sweet lady, a little quirky but nice enough. However, she should not be teaching entry-level Greek. She tried to make it easy for the students but it ended up not preparing everyone for the next level of Greek. If this is your first Greek class, find another section. You'll regret it if you don't.

As a person, she's nice, and her class is very easy. However, having her for my first semester of Greek ever completely ruined all my other classes. I was not prepared at all. If you have her, be prepared to study a lot in the upper levels!

Very strange. I'm not sure how I would do for next level of Greek, because she has unusual demands from vocabulary. If you go in for office hours, though, she's very helpful, and always offers help when you need it. Lots of quizzes, so study a lot.

With all of the comments on this page, I thought I would hate her class, but I didn't give Dr. Peirce a single score below 8 on our teacher evaluations. Her teaching style for Greek is incredibly well thought out and accessible. Her sense of humor and strange personality make the class interesting even when the subject matter isn't.

Quite frankly, she's not a very good history/art professor. Likes to compare things to varying foodstuffs, such as piecrust. Very nice, but the way she grades papers befuddles me. Either way, you'll probably get an A- in the class. She shouldn't be teaching Honors, but she has tenure, so, well... not much you can do...
