Comment:
Professor Caputo is someone who knows his stuff but seems uninterested in explaining the material to those who don't. He picks favorites in his class and seems to cater only to them. After the midterm more than 2/3 of the class dropped. This is a class for someone with a strong economics background already otherwise this class will be impossible.

I see some negative reviews on here and their reasons don't make any sense. Yes it is a hard course, no one is trying to tell you otherwise, however he is always extremely clear about what he expects from you. Every single lecture you go to is extremely well thought out, related to the real world and comprehensible (even if you don't get the math).

Quite frankly the most unforgiving professor in terms of grades. This class is beyond difficult. Professor knows what he's doing, teaches well, but you will live and breathe this class. Avoid if taking at least 1 more difficult class. Would not recommend to a friend if you need an elective credit.

Favorite economics professor at UCF by far. His ability to convey in depth concepts at a very simple level is amazing. He is passionate about teaching and it shows. He is prepared for every lecture and has tailored quizzes and exams perfectly to sort the students. You have to earn your grade through a little bit of hard work.

This class will make you work hard for a passing grade. Not many students make it to the final who started the class, which counts for upwards of 55% of the grade! Im not going to sugar coat it, this class was hard and made Calc 2 look easy. However, it is very informative and I learned more from this class than any other Econ class I have taken.

Brilliant lecturer. Tough grader. I only did about half of each homework assignment but still passed. Attendance isn't required, but missing even one class will kill you. I learned more from this class than from most of my others combined.

Caputo knows his material but does not know how to grade and teach at a 2000 level class. Most professors who have the knowledge rarely know how to change the scale based on being a teaching professional. I would not recommend taking him at unless going into the Economics Dept. and taking 4000 level classes. That is his best fit.

I would strongly caution anyone against taking a class with Caputo. He is an extremely tough grader, does not curve, or offer any second chances to students in his class. He obviously knows the material he teaches, but does not have the capability of communicating it clearly. Textbook is used, but is even less useful than his notes.

Do not take any class with this man. Extremely difficult subject matter and poor explanation ability on the part of the prof. The single biggest mistake I have made in my undergraduate career was taking a class with him.

Caputo is an ace in the subject matter and explains it very intelligently but ultimately fails to make the material accessible to those who are not familiar with the Calculus involved. Indeed he has heavy standards for his student's prerequisite knowledge. His teaching methodology is very traditional, eschewing powerpoints and study guides.

Honestly he seemed like a good teacher, just not for me. I took him for honors during the spring semester and I got a 30% on the first exam (too low for me to rebound from if I wanted to stay in the business college) so I had to drop the class. He was really helpful about helping me decide to stick it out or try again another semester.

I regret to take this class. As a math major student I can't understand his logic. He speaking so many useless world which makes you hard to find the key word and complicates your understanding. For homework, you must work for other classmates otherwise you can't finish it due to the large amount of it In a word, don't take it!

If this is your last semester, DO NOT take him, just dont, unless you're an ex engineer or pursuing a PHD in economics. Having said that, Caputo is best professor HANDS DOWN at UCF. Even failing his class I learned more than most of my other econ classes combined. Cool guy and very willing to help, but remember kids: he DOES NOT CURVE!

It is amazing how much my mind grew in his class. He made me work - hard - to get my A, and it was so rewarding. You will study hard and struggle with the content in his class, but he's there to help. Take him if you care about your education.

Dr. Caputo is a great professor but he will show no mercy. You are expected to be sharp with the mathematics and calculus involved in the course, however understanding of the economics is 90 percent of what he looks for when grading. He is very accessible during his office hours and willing to help with any questions you may have.

Most difficult class I've ever taken, but I learned so much. He's very good at working with you outside of class. If you do not do all the homework, work your tail off, and work with him outside of class you will find it difficult to pass.

This class is math intensive (derivatives, partial derivatives, integrals and optimization problem and lots of algebra). The course focuses mostly on industrial organization, and feels a bit like a continuation of microeconomics. The professor won't curve the grades. Teaching was clear but the material is technical, so the class wasn't "easy."

I'm telling everybody do not take his classes if you dont have to. He is the Hardest teacher in the economics department. In Industrial Organizations He only gives you the basic information during class and exams are out of this world average is about 40% and most people drop after the midterm. I have "HAD" a eco GPA of 4.00 im getting d or c
