if you have taken calculus in high school, this will be an easy A, and you will have time for your other courses. if not, the course calculus is hard and you are going to have to devote some time to study the material. Try and do all the homework problems and go over the notes. I took Calculus in high school so his class was really easy to me.

I was thrown right into calculus with no background of precal or anything. And let me tell you, TAKE THIS MAN. You only have 3 tests, so there are no cushion grades, but he will not let you fail unless you just do not try at all. He is REALLY good about giving extra points on tests! Really smart guy!

Do yourself a favor and avoid him. It was an ok class, but he didn't help students out AT ALL. Profs should want students to succeed but I guess not. Very inconsistent between HW and tests. Don't go to his posted office hours unless you want to feel ridiculed and belittled about what you did wrong on your test. Overall very VERY disappointed

He teaches ok (boring) but doesn't work problems enough in class, which leaves us unprepared for tests. Homework (he himself even admits) is not much like the test. Only 2 tests, and a comprehensive final. Makes it very hard to bring your grade up. Hardly fair. I would avoid completely.

I took CALC 1 and i have to say Mr. Underwood is the BEST professor that i have taken at AUM. Very clear, easy to understand, and willing to help. He assigns a reasonable amount of homework, but doesn't check it. Lectures are engaging and sometimes interesting. Tests are not easy but if you study they will be. Overall, great professor!

Dr. Underwood is a nice guy but he's not the best professor. I honestly wouldn't bother with most of the homework and textbook due to not corresponding well with the way information is taught in class and solutions are worked completely different. Take notes and focus on problems worked in class (don't worry about homework unless similar).

I took calc I over the summer (MWF). There were 2 tests & a comprehensive final, all of which were open-ended questions (no multiple choice). Some of the material wasn't taught until two days before the final exam, & topics for the final were given the DAY before the exam. Textbook & homework are completely different from methods taught in class.

Very good Calculus professor. Do the homework! Some of his exam questions are directly from them or the notes (he doesn't change them often). He gives partial credit so that's a big plus considering small mistakes tend to happen along the way sometimes.

He is kind of hard to understand , but as long as you know how to get answers correct then it doesn't matter. He is pretty funny and a nice guy. Gives partial credit. He wasn't very flexible with office hours if you wanted extra help. I would take him again though.

Wonderful math teacher. Multivariable calculus isn't interesting no matter who teaches it, but Underwood does as good a job as you can ask. He's very understandable and his tests are fair, very similar to the book problems he gives for you to study. If you can't make it to class just make sure you can do those problems and you will be fine

Simply, the BEST math professor at AUM, hands down. Calculus 2 is supposed to be a lot harder than calculus 1, but with Underwood for cal 2 it was not. Take him if you can.

As far as math professors go, he's slightly above average. He does a pretty good job explaining, but doesn't really go over many HW problems. His tests seem to come from the hardest of the HW problems. He does a really good job explaining 3-space and how it relates to 2-space. The class is not undoable, but it's not easy.

Very enthusiastic, but often seems kinda spacy. Almost ADD, and rambles a lot. Funny guy, but not always on purpose. Very good in his field, but not the best communicator. The class was easy enough. My favorite part, though, was that he carries a lunchbox that a little kid wrote "I love you" on. I thought that was just special. :D

Very enthusiastic about math. Often says things like, "This is powerful stuff" & "You might not believe me, but I'm going to prove this mathematical theorem." Only allows 2 homework review problems. Gets more chalk on his pants than on the board.

This guy LOVES math and he knows a LOT about it! Problem is, he seems to assume that everyone else does. He talks to the chalkboard more than the students and refuses to review more than 2 or 3 of the homework problems each day. Very fast paced. Loves to say "well, of course we know that this is..." and keeps moving on while the class looks dazed.

Underwood is awesome! Yes, he is all over the board and he does get chalk all over himself, but he teaches the material perfectly and clearly. I had not had any math in 10 yrs, so I had forgotten most everything, but with him I caught back up quickly. Also, he's lenient on the exams and gives credit for partial work. A++++ teacher!!
