Most amazing professor at WM!! And I'm not even an English major. This was my third class with him and I would take more if I could. So entertaining and knowledgable. As long as you go to class and read the plays you should get an A.

By far one of my favorite professors. He is really passionate about the topic which makes the class much more interesting. I loved it. Because of Prof. Hailey I love Shakespeare now. The class is easy and the tests are really easy as long as you read the material. But he does grade hard on the essays, which can pull your grade down.

Great guy who's passionate about his topic area. Hard grader on essays so if you want an easy A don't take him. His lectures are fun and full of interesting tangents and if you regularly attend class he goes over the material thoroughly so there's no need to stress over the readings. Overall, fun class, learned a lot, but it's hard work.

Carter Hailey is INCREDIBLE. Tests are a bit difficult, but not impossible -- just make sure you show up, pay attention, and take notes in class. Fun guy, very easy-going. Participate in class and you'll do fine. Lots of reading, and you really need to keep up with it to get a decent grade.

Carter's the best. Really nice, funny, smart and makes class interesting. I want to take more of his classes even though I'm not an English major and don't really like English. Shakespeare is actually interesting with this guy.

Hailey is the best. His analysis of the texts isn't at the highest level, but he makes up for it with his enthusiasm, accents, and vocabulary words. Loved his class.

The best prof W&M has! Hailey is incredibly intelligent and witty, really laid back, and makes everything fun. If you aren't an english major, you'll wish you were just so you can take more of his classes. Work load is OK, 4 short assignments and 2 big papers, all of which are graded fairly. Don't expect many A's, but you're in for a real treat

this is one of the worst classes i've ever taken -- hailey is completely overrated. he basically spends the entire class reading the text aloud and summarizing each mundane detail of the plot while letting the same one or two idiots suck up to him in front of the entire class. he tries to make everything a joke -- and he's really not funny.

Dr. Hailey is a kind, wise, and witty professor. His enthusiasm for the subject is very contagious! Hard to get an A on essays if you aren't particularly talented in writing, but not impossible. If I was an english major I definitely would have him as a professor again.

Great professor. Great class for GER because he makes material seem more interesting than it really is. A's are rare on papers, but he's a very fair grader. One of my favorite professors.

Great prof- lectures are quite fun, tests are fair. Be warned, however, that his classes include a good deal of reading that you need to do to do well and that his enthusiasm can be off-putting to those who aren't interested in the subject.

Professor Hailey is amazing. Engaging, insightful, always willing to talk to students to help them. The man absolutely knows his stuff, and knows how to get it across to students. He really loves his material, and that makes him an enthusiastic and interesting lecturer. Little bit of a tough grader, but not unfair about it.
