Unhelpful moderator of class discussion and unenthusiastic demeanor makes this class very long to sit through. Minimal feedback and poor guidance, coupled with high expectations on turned-in assignments. If you have to take Magazine Journalism for the certificate, wait until it's taught by another professor.

Awful. I am currently a senior at Duke. Worst professor I have ever had at this school. Bliwise is mean-spirited and gives tons of homework. I gained no factual knowledge from this class. Do not take.

I can hardly vent enough frustration - this man is not only awkward but UNbearable. I loved learning about magazine journalism and he assigned interesting articles to read but assignments were too frequent and too arduous for the thanklessness he gives in return. YUCK

I'm still in the midst of the course so can't offer any feedback on grading but, although I am very interested in the course material and fascinated with the assigned readings, I've been frustrated at the arduous assignments and minimal feedback. Bliwise certainly knows his stuff but has a hard time articulating his enthusiasm in a discussion..
