Strongly recommend to anyone who is serious about learning the material. It is something you either learn or you don't. If you don't invest 10+ hours a week to this class you will not do well.

Calc based Physics: very difficult class but very interesting. I would recommend if you are very serious and have an immense time devotion. I made an A, but I spend over 30 hours during my spring break working on the final project. I deeply enjoyed this class and I learned a lot but it is not for the faint of heart. I didn't take calc II prior BTW.

This class is extremely difficult. You MUST go to class even though attendance is not mandatory, it'll save your grade later. This class is heavy on physics when it comes to the math of the class. Other than that, the lecture is what you're tested on not the book but the book is helpful with reinforcing the material. This is not a fly-by course.

Doesn't teach. Hard to understand. You basically have to teach yourself and spend like 6 hours a day learning. Do not recommend!

Fair and passionate. If you're one who expects to skate through life like most people in the U.S., then avoid the class. If you wish to learn astronomy, and put forth effort required of a college student, then this professor is one of the best. Do your part;he'll do his. Thie class is so interesting, and yes you need to work, but you learn so much

This is a tough class, but is not impossible. Tests are all essay. Pay attention, go to class, and read the text really well. You won't pass this class by just memorizing definitions.

I would not recommend him. I learned nothing from him. He makes mistakes on the board which make it extremely difficult to understand. If you do take him, do not take it with any other math or science classes. This class with this teacher requires a lot of time.

Terrific professor, he tells you at the beginning of the class that if you attend, you will pass. Very smart, very knowledgeable professor. He may not always explain everything right away, but if you ask he will tell you what you need to know. Tests can be hard if you don't go class or pay attention. I got an A in the class without much effort.

Underrated professor. He is really smart and wants you to truly understand the material. If you are looking for anything close to an easy A, look elsewhere. But if you are looking to actually learn and understand the material, his class will ensure that upon passing. Also the class requires a lot of time studying and practicing problems on your own

Very smart guy. Hard class. If you have never taken a physics class in your life, like me, I wouldn't suggest jumping into the second level with him. But, it is doable. His tests are NOT hard to understand. They are often very straight-forward and similar to or sometimes COPIES of homework problems. Not too hard if you have lots of time.

He is so confusing! He doesn't explain things thoroughly or in a logical order. He bounces from subject to subject and didn't use the book at all. He made very few powerpoints and googled images as he went. Even if you study, his tests are extremely confusing!!!

He is horrible!! He doesn't like to explain things in full details. He teaches as though everyone is a scientist, cosmologist or something with an ist at the end. He's rude and in my opinion doesn't like people. He should work on the moon not in a classroom.

Comment:
Do Not Take This Teacher. Chose to take a simple science 1102 class and turn it in to a cosmology class. His tests chose to not focus on main ideas, instead to focus on random details. 1102 is a general science class, and should be treated as such. Uses a different textbook, and no WEBCT. Be smart, and pass this teacher up.

He did not teach...it was more like him showing us all he knows rather than teaching us....i would recommand getting a tutor because he is no help....read the book and maybe you will pass...does not curve grade and no bonus

He is given a lot of flack because he does not spoon feed info with a multiple choice test at the end. He actually teaches for understanding and makes you think -that's a novel idea for a classroom! Will help if you put effort into learning. Don't expect an easy A but A is easy if you pay attention and study. Wonderful! Enjoyed class- learned a ton

Like the bottom guy just said, most teachers aren't as bad as people say, but please, if you've already registered for one of his classes, drop it!!He comes to class unprepared. Teaches nonsense, test questions are close to impossible and gives only about 5 of them each worth 20 points....got all A's except for this class. Killed my GPA. RUN

It doesn't take a lot of work to understand what's going on in the class. He does have a tendency to repeat himself in a louder volume if you don't understand rather than clarify. Lets you make your own formula sheet for exams.

I had this class in high school and covered way more material in high school. Thought it would be a breeze for me. Not with LaRosa! Seeing the nice comments about him makes me wonder if he wrote them.
