Excellent professional professor who really knows his stuff and explains it very well through interesting lectures. Only downside of the entire class for me was lots of reading which is actually brought up and discussions are expected. If you're into France at all I highly recommend his classes, if you're not there are easier classes out there.

This is a professor who CARES for his students. He even invited the class to his home for a lecture by some grad student. Overall QUALITY guy. His TA Elizabeth led pointless discussions.

Highly recommend him and his 120 E class! Midterm and final (essays and short answers)for that class are easy you want to analyze in your exams than just recount what happened. TAs are great! The only book you really need to read is Zola, Balzac and maybe Paris: Bio Of A City.

He is a great professor! Very clear, very nice, and gives you what you NEED on quizzes and tests. I now want to go back to Paris because of him. Yeah, he did a whole class on one city. I recommend him to anyone who takes a history class. He got an ovation from the students too, that's awesome. You're the man T. Tackett

Good teacher, a nice guy and easy to understand. He can cover a lot of material in class, so it's kind of important to go to each lecture. Discussions are mostly worthless, out of the 6 I've attended so far, the only one that helped was the midterm review (and the midterm was an hour after the discussion -_-). Overall, I highly recommend him.

I had him for three classes. Easily my favorite history professor at UCI. He's considerate and interested in students and teaching. He teaches at a fairly sophisticated level for undergrad classes, but the experience is really rewarding if you're interested in the subjects that he covers. Great teacher!

Tackett is a great scholar on the French Revolution and taking this class from him was a great opportunity. I found the material interesting and thus the lectures interesting, but if you arent interested in the French Rev or Napoleon, dont take the course. There is an average amount of reading for history courses and I found it very well chosen.

Tackett is great. Fun class. Way too much reading, but I was able to get by w/out doing it all. Mid-term and Finals are ok, he gives study themes. He does expect a lot from students, but the class is rather rewarding.

This man knows what he is talking about, tries to be funny, but assigns waaay too much reading. He expects a lot from his students. Lectures are pretty clear but can sometimes be boring. Books were somewhat expensive, only take if you can devote the time!
