Comment:

Where to start? They were extremely long three hour lectures. Does not follow the textbook. Does not post notes. He words his tests horribly. He give no grading guide or feedback. He was rude to me when I asked for clarification. I made the mistake of confronting him about some issues and my grades suffered. Verdict? Don't take him!

If your aim is to learn about the life and history of Tom Rippon take his class, if not then I would avoid it. He only wants to talk about himself and his accomplishments, he is this most egotistical instructor I have ever had. He doesn't teach what is in the textbook, and gives very little direction for assignments and zero feedback.

If you care, he cares. participate, engage, be open minded. Tom teaches completely different than any other teacher and you will leave his class a better person than you were when you started. critical thinking is the major take away and what I learned will help me long after my degree is complete.

Having a 3 hour class with Tom was painful. Boring. He teaches a lot of things; different things from textbook. If you take notes, or read the textbook doesn't matter because he asks way different questions in his exams. Noone got more than 70% in his exams! He is an easy grader on assignments. Write good assignments to get a good grade at the end.

Took all the notes, studied the text, and attended every class yet his midterm questions were nothing at all like he mentioned would be. Misleading information going into the midterms.

Comment:

Having a 3 hour class with Tom was painful. He rambled for the whole time of every lecture. Make sure that he knows your name and that you show up, participation goes along way in this class. I found that he was a very easy maker. When I would quote him in my papers I would get 100%..."ponder like pooh bear" and "go for walkies."

He tends to be a "tad" full of himself. There is no arguing or making your point because his is more important and right. I found his classes to be boring and dry, Although he does no the information very well I found the text book much easier to follow.

Tom just rambles on for 2 hours about nonsense . He likes to "stick his hands into grass and be one with nature" If you have a 3 hour class with this guy, prepared to be bored to death. He also gives no feedback on homework either. Avoid this teacher if you have a busy schedul because this guy is a time waster that likes to talk about nothing

His stories are repetitive but he is inspirational, with a great sense of humour. Tom is willing to help; YOU WILL GO A LONG WAY if you go to his office. It's important for him that you try to "understand" what makes him tick. Quirky. Lots of assignments. Busy class. He cares about his students. Likes Harley's & cognac. Very detail-oriented.

To do well in his classes: be sincere, do your best, leave your ego behind, listen to him & share at times your opinioninsights openly, ask questions by e-mail or duringafter class to to clarify what is expected of you to achieve excellence, and follow his counsel. The quality of education he delivers is high. He is a rare and caring teacher.

I personally did not like Tom. Extremely self-important, spent most of the class listening to him talk about himself, and his TED talk. Yes, that is quite an accomplishment, but that's not why I'm taking the class.

Tom Rippon says, "Publish or Perish". He is a Peace Doctor. He really inspired me when all I had to hold on to was a few scattered ideas about hidden alliances and wonderful secrets. He writes for online peace journals that nobody reads. + NATO!!! He invited me to give it a try. Read "NO BULLETS: With Energy We Won't Need Bullets"

Tom Rippon is without question the best professor I have ever had in numerous years of post secondary education. He is not a traditional type educator, he wants his students to think for themselves and not regurgitate information from the textbook. He teaches mind mapping and how to truly learn for the love of learning not just a grade.

I like Tom but sometimes it's hard to pay attention in class because there is a lot of talk without interaction. This class has no midterms or finals which is very nice for the full time student. Attendance is mandatory since participation is a large portion of your grade.

This man has LIFE experience and when you combine that with the course materials you get a real opportunity for education. His goal in class, and he makes this clear, isn't to just make you memorize a bunch of material, it is to teach you valuable information about life. In 2 classes with him right now and would take classes with him again.

It's an easy grade as long as you attend classes,make an effort,and appeal to his ego.Content is infused with his moral framework, heavily influenced by his military background.I went into business coming from a philosophy background and it was really hard to deal with his theories;they were weakly supported.An A+ for enthusiasm and helpfulness !!
