He is amazing and was so helpful. I must have emailed him ten times and he responded to every single one. He is willing to go through all of your drafts and he is so incredibly helpful and provides resources for you to use. The class was five weeks long over the summer and it was completely manageable because he is able to answer any questions.

An amazing teacher with tremendous experience in his field (urban planning and design). Very, very kind and supportive. Has expectations and the reading load is above average by DePaul standards. The online lectures are beautifully put together but could be shorter. Glad I took him. It changed my perspective on many things - incl. professions.

I made the mistake of taking this class freshman year, on top of that it was a hybrid course. He is a great teacher, the lectures are long and pretty boring, but if you like politics, then you'll like this class. You have mandatory quizzes, a research paper (quite long), and a final paper. There's a lot, a LOT, I MEAN A LOT of readings. Good Luck!

The material was interesting, but difficult. The problem was that there were too many things to learn in little time and it was extremely stressful. I spent a LOT of time on the class work. You are graded on quizzes , discussion posts, a 10 pg research paper and one final paper. Prof Papadopolous is always there for you and very intelligent.

Amazing guy & really want you to succeed. Try not to take this as a hybrid tho especially if you genuinely want to absorb the material because it really is interesting. Also don't slack off on the quizzes. They're crazy hard but he gives you 2 tries and everything else is take home. Plus if you need help he is literally always available & so sweet.

Great educator and willing to help outside of class which is highly recommended. Course material is difficult and there are lots of readings and long lectures which challenges you. I recommend taking courses with this professor after freshman year to ease into difficult course material.

If you try, you'll pass. This guy is waaaay too good for DePaul. 10 out of 10. His class can get a little dry, but he is so crazy intelligent that if you're interested in the subject you'll want to hear him talk forever. He is extremely nice and just wants more people to be interested in geography. TAKE THIS GUY.

If you like long lectures that have nothing to do with the assignments, this is the class for you. Take home midterm and final but you'll need to do ALL the readings to be able to do well. Very specific grading criteria but can be generous for effort. Big research paper due with the final too. Only those 3 assignments make up your grade.

Comment:
Comparative Urbanism with Alex Papadopolous was an interesting course. The class is very difficult but if you take notes on the readings and pay attention to the boring lectures then you will probably be fine. The tests are very difficult but they are take-home so you can take your time on them. The research project is tedious but interesting.

Super nice guy, but he literally lectures the entire time. So boring. Wasn't really sure what he was talking about half the time. Lots of reading - he posts them all on D2L. Take home midterm and final, both very time consuming. Research paper due at the same time as the final.

Urban Comparative, get ready to read! Now there is A LOT of reading, and usually the lectures are not based on the reading. BUT in order to do well on midterm and final (which were take home) you have to know the reading. Ask him for help! He's very welcoming and understandable when it comes to students and dilemmas. Purely lecture.

Very dense class. Midterm and Final in-class written exam then a final research project with presentation. Talks the entire class, with break. If you like a long lecture this is your class.

I took this course that I needed for a requirement. This class is about "world cities" and the history of some major cities and how they deveolped. This includes economy, goverment, society, and geographical influence. If you like those things take this class. He's awesome and helpful, I just do not understand social sciences.

This is quite possibly the most knowledgeable person of his given subject that I've ever met. If you are into studying cities, this is the man to know. He amazed me on a daily basis with his casual use of vast amounts of knowledge. He is a great person, also. Humble and not demeaning. That said, you need to read and study quite a bit for the A

Amazing command of all things "European Union". Brilliant, very approachable, but also demanding. Prepare to work, but you'll have one of the best teachers at DePaul.

Explore Class: From Industrial City to Global Metropolis. I didn't understand most of what he said; neither did the rest of the class. If you're really into geopolitics, take the class, otherwise, take something you enjoy. Knowledgeable, but he expected, from freshmen honors students, senior-level work.

Comment:
There is too much readings. But the worst part is that he doesn̢۪t explain anything completely, he assumes you know all European and Middle East conflicts. The texts also don̢۪t explain anything from the beginning they are more like a criticism of what have already been said. My class also did bad in the midterm and he had to curve the final grade.
