Comment:
He lectures and uses no technology, but he is very easy to follow. He speaks at a note taking pace and repeats the most important information over several lectures. I've learned a lot from him & have found he's one of the better professors around CU if you can handle the lecture styled classes. He makes sure you'll know what to expect on tests.

Comment:
I have taken three courses with him - HIST 1018, HIST 4118, and HIST 4018. He is a fantastic prof and his lectures can be kind of boring at times, but he knows a lot about the subjects he teaches. He can be a bit unorganized at times, but overall everything works out in the end. He is also late sometimes, but it's no big deal. Very fantastic guy.

Comment:
Professor Ferry's classes rely heavily on lecturing; however, Ferry's lectures are extremely interesting and clear. He also frequently discusses the content of the tests to prepare students for them. He even has consulted the class on what should be fair to ask on an exam. He is a professor that works with his students, not against them.

Comment:
Ferry is straightforward and fair. Reading the books (and there is a lot of reading) is usually necessary and there was a lot of writing, but he grades leniently and does not try to convince you to see things his way. He is open-minded and invites classroom discussion.

His lectures are very hard to follow..his readings usually never match up with his lectures making it really hard to discuss topics in recitiation and his quizzes are either completely random or somewhat easy. I had to force myself to go to this class!!

Ferry comes off as dry his first day - but don't be fooled, he's entertaining, helpful, down-to-earth, and has a lot of integrity. Very mellow, nice class/professor - not terribly difficult.

Great class, great prof, very down to earth. Grader ruined it, though, by not returning tests and quizzes in a timely manner.

Very interesting - I didn't go into a course on Mexican History expecting to enjoy it, but he made it very worthwhile. Definitely one to take a class with if you can.

Ferry's class is incredibly hard to follow, not because of the content, but because of the way he lectures. He is very unclear and skips around a lot. I've found his quizzes to be random and hard to study for because you never know what he'll put on the
