Professor Piar is cool, I really enjoyed his class. Going to class is pretty important because he adds on to his slides. Towards the end of the semester, there's a research paper does take up some time, but you'll be fine. Interesting and fun class. There's no textbook just readings that aren't that important. Quizzes are a bit hard so study!

Engaging, funny & knows his stuff! Study guides were super helpful and represented what was on the tests. I personally dont understand the low ratings- it definitely wasnt my experience. Thankfully I listened to my friend telling me to take him- Im much better for it! Take him- he is top notch!!!

You dont have to show up unless its a test day or homework collection day. He gives study guides and looser points so if you look at them you will pass. DO THE HOMEWORK I would have gotten an A of I didnt skip some homework assignments. Homework is super easy and he gives feedback every time.

2 response papers, 1 research paper, 2 quizzes, 1 midterm and 1 final. Tests are based off the slides that he posts online. Everything you need for the midterm/final are on the study guides. During class, he'll go off tangent and answer some of the reading questions, so you can get away with not buying the required books.

If you're looking for an easy A class, this is not it. Class was just lecture and watching movies. Lectures were boring, I fell asleep several times. There are 6 reading summaries which were a PAIN but easy points, 2 difficult papers (hard grader), and a midterm & final. Exams were not horrible and is basically the study guides he gives beforehand.

Class is boring but the material is interesting. Attendance is not mandatory because the powerpoints are uploaded once he finishes them. He does give study guides that mirror what will be on the test, study those and you will pass. There are 7 book summaries, 3 exams, and 1 research paper.

Offensive. If you are someone who is religious he will come off being offensive and rude. Also, there is so much reading and papers are due like every week.

Dr. Piar is a great professor, but don't fool around. He loves when students argue, but he doesn't back down from his own beliefs. He's a very nice man, but this class is very challenging. Not a lot that determines your grade and a stringent no-late policy. If you want to learn, this is the class for you. Not for the faint-of-heart.

Piar teaches one of those G.E. classes that clears you of a capstone. He knows that many of the students are not familiar with studying religion, nor are they particularly interested. The 1st paper is a breeze. He is somewhat unable to relate to students. Provides study guides for exams. His textbooks are way $$$ and you don't use all of them

One of the worst classes and professors I have ever had. Nothing is made clue and as a person, he is simply not nice. Would not take again.

Would not recommend by any means !! His "lectures" are just awkward rants and he constantly makes terrible jokes and expects people to laugh. The tests are way too hard for a 100 level class. Big mistake wasting my time in his class.

Tough grader!!! There aren't much grades for the whole course, so mess up once and it will haunt you. Lectures are quite interesting, but he tends to go off topic at times.

Class is not hard. But his lectures are annoying. Has condescending tendencies towards different beliefs, and students who try to ask questions. I was looking forward to this class, but left regretting ever taking it with him.

His lectures feel like they drag on forever. He thinks he's funny, but he's really not. Although I pulled through with an A, I had to work harder than I had anticipated and disliked my time in this class.

If you want to cry like I did after my final, then by all means, take his course. I'm an A student but I personally took away nothing from what he taught in his course. His lectures are dry, a lot of reading (with journal responses), and a huge term paper at the end to which he gave the class no structure for it.

He's a tough grader & there are a lot of reading assignments. His lectures are VERY long & boring. He tries to tell funny jokes but they end up being offensive. He does provide study guides for midterms & its very helpful to to them. If you are planning to take this as a GE course, I would pick another one because this course was quite difficult.
