One of the worse language teachers and worst teacher I have ever seen so far. Rather rude, doesn't seem to give a crap about the students (especially if you're struggling), questions are either met with non-comprehension or simply "later", book is outdated (still talks about typewriters), and class is just parroting/memorization.

She is honestly one of the worst teachers I have had in my entire academic career. She uses a crappy out of date textbook and just copies stuff out of it. All you do in class is repeat or what is already written or what she says. You don't get a chance to try and converse in the language at all. She only goes over vocab once and doesn't grade HW.

the class is easy if you simply like copying her instead of actually trying to grasp the language. as a student who has learned over 3 different languages all from different teachers, she is by far the most rude, most proud, and least motivated to teach. i love learning languages but i cannot enjoy the class if the teacher does not enjoy either.

The book is outdated and she does not correct it to the extent needed. There is too much parroting and memorization, instead of encouraging people to develop real skills in conversation/comprehension. While not her fault, her allergies make it hard to understand her sometimes. She sometimes wastes time ranting about taking the class seriously. C+

At first, I had a tough time adapting in the class since it is much more rigorous than other Japanese classes I had taken but once you get used to it, Konishi's class isn't so bad. It's indeed challenging but it is extremely helpful if you want to be proficient in Japanese. Just show up, pay attention, and study efficiently.

Not a very difficult class. Dialogues are fun, and as long as you study, do hw, and practice, you'll get an A. Konishi-sensei is a bit gruff and sometimes a little mean, but still likable. People who are not at all confident in their japanese this class might be scary for.

I loved having Konishi-sensei! At first she seemed scary, but she's actually caring yet gruff. I had a lot of fun in her class, and overall it wasn't very stressful. Do your hw and participate in class and you'll be fine. Konishi-sensei is great for intermediate level Japanese, but I imagine taking her for beginner level can be challenging.

Mrs.Konishi is a very strict teacher.She is not patient but she knows what shes doing.Memorization is vital especially for dialogue tests.The class is fast-paced and u need to pay-attention to lectures and even 1 lesson missed will hurt u.She likes participation, but doesnt do 2 well on answering ur questions.She is a very respected teacher!

If you can resolve to not ask any questions, do all your homework, participate in class discussions and study, she may be the best teacher you will ever have. Questions are either met with non-comprehension or outright rudeness. Heaven help you if you fall asleep in class or miss a couple of days. Be prepared to work hard and you'll do well.

This class is easy only if you have a good grasp on Japanese and if you STUDY. Good memorization skills are def. required to get a good grade in this class. Professor is a little strict but has a little sense of humor. She can be unintentionally rude. Don't slack off and you'll be fine.

Highly recommended for serious students who want to become fluent in Japanese. I found her class moderately easy if you put in a bit of effort - but I think the level of difficulty is different for everyone. Lots of homework, memorization, performing dialogues in front of the class, etc. She can be a bit rude and disrespectful at times.

The course book is outdated and poorly organized, and she teaches only from the book - with almost no time for questions. She spends a lot of time drilling pronunciation -- if that's all you want, you will enjoy her class. However, you will learn whole phrases and formal conversation, rather than full comprehension and natural conversation.

Konishi sensei is good and fair teacher. You need to be able to perform dialogues in front of the class. She gives you simple class participation points to help you grade. The only faults in the course are due to DeAnza's poor choice of textbooks.

she is not hard and she is not disrespectful. she respects you if you respect her. Japanese people are very respectful, so you should try to be more like that. she does have quizzes and tests but its not a surprise,, she gives you what to study.. she's a great teacher!!
