Dr. Hanks cares deeply for his students. He likes to let students make decisions for themselves in class and incorporates a lot of discussions. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has a gift for presenting controversial issues in a fair manner. He is very patient and does his best to give each student a voice in class.

Dr. Hanks is a kind person who enjoys what he does, but this was one of the most mundane and unclear courses I've taken. The textbook is unnecessary and lectures are unorganizedrepetitive. The semester-long group project put a damper on the entire course and was more of an annoyance than a learning experience. Departmental issues ruin the course.

dont care about philosophy but Hanks made it bearable. only 2 exams at the end of the semester (about 2weeks apart) 1st exam: an essay-he gives you the questions ahead of time plus allows you to bring an index card. 2nd exam: mc. no final. he did a trial group project this semester, dont know if he'll do it again. overall you can easily manage a B

Craig is a very easy going professor! He loves what he's teaching and is very laid back. There is only one multiple choice exam and one writing exam through out the semester. They say the reading is required but I've done great from just his powerpoints! Be ready to work with a group though, there is a group project throughout the semester.

Professor Hanks is by far, the most amazing teacher i've had at Texas State. Attendance is not mandatory, but the more you go- the better your grade will be. He has both quizzes and pop quizzes often but they're super easy. I only remember taking one test with an essay portion. He's very intelligent and cares about his students. TAKE HIM!!!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! I probably would have hated philosophy if i took someone else. He is great at his job and makes class worthwhile. This class is not hard at all if you put up the effort.

Fab professor! Do the reading, attend class, and talk with your TA, especially when doing your writing assignments and you can get an A. Not an easy A but quite attainable. Extra credit is given for attendance as well as reflection papers! A very nice approachable professor.

I LOVED the way his class was structured. The tests are part out of class essay and part in class multiple choice. One quiz per week but if you pay attention they're easy. He gives a ton of extra credit. He is a genuinely nice guy. Expect to see him around a lot and he will most likely remember your name. Easy A if you do everything you should.

Funny, funny man. He's young at heart so expect to see him in dining halls or walking on campus and in town alot since he is so involved. He speaks with wisdom and has a great moral character that greatly reflects in his teachings. He'll make you think beyond and you'll come out of the class in a trance.

Dr.Hanks is a pretty good professor. A subject like Philosophy can sometimes be boring, but he makes it bearable. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit as well. If you read the assigned readings and review quizzes you should get at least a "B" very easy class.

Hanks is always there to help if you need it. He goes around to dorms and hangs out just in case somebody there is in need. Holds a review before exams. If you can remember the main concepts of each philosopher you'll be fine. Extra credit is offered, and labs are mandatory. Nice guy who is passionate about what he's teaching!

Hanks was a cool professor! He gives tons of extra credit opportunities. You do have to read and go to class to get the notes. He gives out several quizzes over the course of the semester and pop quizzes as well (attendance). Exams are alright, study and you should be fine. There should be no reason not to have a B or higher.

If you read the material and participate in discussions you will ace the tests and quizzes and you won't even have to do all the extra credit. His class turned out to be enjoyable, and I loved my TA, David, who was also extremely knowledgeable about ethics. Definitely recommend taking Dr. Hanks.

Hanks was my very favorite prof this semester. He makes a boring subject rather interesting. He gives 11 quizzes (4 of which are pop quizzes so I suggest going to EVERY class). There are only 3 exams. The first two are essays and the third is muliple choice and concidered your final. TONS of extra credit. Plus I found him awkwardly attractive.. ha
