No teaching structure at all. His teaching is scattered everywhere. The class was very boring to me trying to understand what he was saying. If you're a smarty pants then take the class but not for me.

This professor is intelligent, stories are great, but HE DOES NOT DO A REVIEW for any tests. I asked him for help 3 times and the best he could say was "maybe history just isn't your thing". In my academic career I was completely 4.0 until his class...only B I got all the way to graduation-find another professor for history.

awesome teacher! very hard class though, but i got a B ( this is coming from a student who loves to slack off and take easy classes) you don't come across teachers like him very often. very passionate and smart

Vargish is the BEST! He's obessed with history and it shows. Interesting lectures, and super informative. Not an easy A tests are hard but he grades very fair and on a curve.

He is a GREAT teacher however his test are HARD! Attendance is mandatory, as he takes roll at the very end of class. 3 tests and a book report - no homework assignments so you must do well on test, definitely not an easy A.

I had Vargish at Mission Viejo High School and loved him and his teaching meathod so much that I took his course at saddleback. His lectures are the best I have EVER EVER had. He takes a historical narrative appraoch which makes his lectures like movies and fun to listen to. I wish he taught more classes at Saddlebck. Funny man too!TAKE VARGISH

Comment:

Vargish teaches history like an old bard spinning a tale about our common predecessors, and the story he tells is the kind you want to hear. He's a voracious reader on the subject he teaches, which is all too rare at Saddleback. His tests are unusually difficult, but they're graded on a curve. Highly recommended.

I loved him. The class can be a bit boring, but he is a really funny/sweet guy. There is one book report and three tests. You do have to study for the tests because they are a great deal of work. If you want to learn more about history he is the best teacher for it, but I wouldn't recommend taking him if you want an easy A.

WORST TEACHER AT SADDLEBACK. SUPER BORING. I fell asleep in his class every time I attended. He claims to teach as if the subject is like a "storybook". Doesn't work, I mean I guess it did because I fell asleep a lot. Tests are REALLY HARD. I don't recommend him. Take this course at IVC with Whelchel,T. He makes the course more enjoyable.

Mr. Vargish is a great guy, and really knows so much about U.S History. the lectures are long and not broken up by questions, but if you take good notes and read the chapters (understand the subject) you'll do fine! only three tests, and make sure you know alllllllllllll the vocabulary it saves youre ass when you don't know the answers to the test!

well it was not easy i'll tell you that i got a D- on the first test then worked my butt off for the rest of the class and ended up with a B if you take this class STUDY THE TERMS!!flashcards! they save you on the tests other than that it wasnt that bad just study hard for tests and you will be fine first one is the hardest so dont take it lightly

This was, without a doubt, the most interesting history class I've ever taken. The tests were kind of difficult, but certainly not impossible. Professor Vargish is passionate about both history and teaching, and it shows.

Great teacher, nice guy. It's true that not much of the lecture content is on the tests, but the lectures are awsome and really gets you interested in history. The tests can be pretty hard, but if you do the reading, you should be fine on the tests.
