Comment:

Don't take her if you don't have to. Very condescending/rude and makes you feel like your wasting her time if you ask her a question. She says you don't have to come to class but the lecture outlines don't cover everything that is on the tests. Don't buy the lab book! For the lab exams, write down everything that's on the board & study that.

The lecture outlines don't have all the material neccesary to do well. So dont skip class. Keep your lab book is organized, ask questions, dont rush. Ignore her suggestion not to make note cards if that's how you learn. Be prepared to put in a lot of time. Final isn't cumulative. She does care about students, even though her class is hard

I I found her to be rude. She didnt believe nursing students belonged in micro (and told us so) even though it was a required course (not sure if it still is the same.) She was unwilling to help or go out of her way to assist students. I worked hard but withdrew and took the course elsewhere, I was convinced she favored science majors.

Professor K isnt a terrible professor but she moves quick in her lectures and if you dont keep up and pay attention you could fall behind easy. The material for this course was not super easy. She does her best to explain things but I had to do alot of outside studying and reading to really understand. If you take her, just make sure you study.

Condescending, aloof, very unhelpful in lab. Very hard lab and lecture tests. Doesn't like to answer questions. She throws tons of information at you and looks bored all the time. There were rarely questions posed, not because there weren't any, but because she made it clear that they were not exactly welcome.

I took this professor for a summer microbiology course. Her lectures were very interesting and straightforward and she gives out study guides for her exams. Lab was really cool and inspired me to go into microbiology as a career. Great professor.

Professor Kolibachuk was great! She made a higher level biology course very interesting. She also posted lecture reviews on blackboard so if you needed to miss class you could still keep up with the material. Great professor!

Dr. K was great! I would highly recommend her to anyone taking mirco at RIC! The class was well organized and her expectations for knowledge were reasonable and conveyed via her summaries posted on blackboard. Would defiantly take again! Know the study guides and this class is very straightforward.

Exams are straight from handouts. I take notes in class to retain retain the info but it is unnecessary. No text book is required; only recommended (you don't need it to get an A). Lab is great, straight forward (take pics of the board on your phone to save note taking time) Dr K is a great teacher, but no class is an easy A; effort still required.

Had her for genetics, shes not that bad. the lab was easy and the lecture exams were tough but she gave some extra credit and she tries to make her lectures easy enough so that we're not overwhelemed. shes not great but def not the worst if you have to take her, you'll get through it!

For everyone who talks smack about Dr. K you need to learn how to study. Take notes memorize packets, do extra credit problem sets, redo them to study for exam, and you have an A. The lab is an easy A as well she tells you what you need to know you need to take the time to learn it. Effort is the word I think. She is GREAT! <3

Her exams get harder as the course progresses. Her questions do get pretty specific and as some have noted here "tricky." Watch out for her multiple choice. So are the worsts! Basically, know everything you wouldnt expect her to ask. That's the simplest way i can put it. She honestly isnt a good of a professor to be asking those types of questions.

O.k.,I understand that mirco is hard and not many people are ecstatic about taking it so they vent about how horrible the prof is,I disagree with a majority of the comments here. All you have to do is be quiet,pay attention,sit in the front,attend class she gives hints during and ask quest @ office hrs.Thats what I did & I got an A, I like her!

Though I ended up with a B in this class, Dr. K is completely unapproachable and somewhat useless. Take advantage of ALL of the bonus material, as it will absolutely make a difference. Though lecture is not very helpful because Dr.K just reiterates everything on the handout, attendance helps cement some of the information prior to the exam

Dr. Kolibachuk is not as bad as some other people are saying on here. She can be a little unorganized at times and she can rush through lectures at times but thats only because there is a lot of information to go over. Her exams are straight from her notes. Not the most approachable person but she is overall a nice person.

Very unorganized,bad social skills,not approachable at all,makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. Flies through the lecture leaving you confused, even worse in lab. Provides incorrect info. Too much superfluous, unimportant information. Class should not be that hard but she makes it extremely difficult. You've been warned!

Dr. K is amazing! You do not need the book at all. I never used it and got an A. If you want an A make sure you attend every class and write down all the extra things she goes over that are not on her handouts. Lab is awesome with her. Her exams (lab and lecture) are easy if you put the effort into them and extra credit is given. Love Her!!!
