I and more than half that class failed the exams. On the first exam the highest grade was an 81. An 81. He also made people feel really bad about themselves to the point where he made a girl cry. I ended up withdrawing but didn't feel as bad when I found out that soo many people did the same. My advisor even said I shouldn't have take him!!

Comment:

111 is a tough course but Dr. Meedel (not Meedle) is great! He really cares about the students understanding the material. He's very helpful during office hours with going over exams and such. He doesn't sugar coat how demanding the course is. His outlines and power points reflect what we are tested on but read the book also! Highly recommended.

In anatomy lab, Professor Meedel is very nice and helpful! He's very willing to come right over to your group and help with dissecting the cat. Bio 231 lab is less stressful if you really dedicate yourself to learning all of the material and go to a lot of extra labs. I enjoyed having Dr. Meedel as my lab instructor!

If you make it past him in BIO 111, you are Bio-major worthy. No he's not easy, no his lectures aren't interesting, but I think the reason RIC keeps him teaching BIO 111 is because the way he teaches you prepares your fresh-out-of-high-school self for what is in store in RIC Biology. I gained better study habits and a sense of urgency for studies.

I had Meedle TWICE for Bio 111 - he's definitely difficult due to his monotone voice and the fact that his exams and quizzes are not straight forward. He expects students to have the book memorized so in addition to being in class and taking diligent notes you must know the book like the back of your hand as well. If you can can do that-he's ur guy

I had him for Human Anatomy lab. He was horrible to say the least. Half the time he leaves and you have to teach yourself, and when he is there he just stands there. The skeletons have more of a personality! If you ask a question he barely explains it to you and he can be rude at times. I had to go to another lab to learn the material.

The class material is simple-its Meedel that makes the class terrible. He is socially awkward to say the least. & he can be rude & unprofessional. I went to review an exam in his office & he was argumentative. He made an error in his notes & he didnt like that I pointed out his mistake! He didnt give me pts when I showed him the books answer!

first half of the semester is a lot of memorization, but the second half is so much better! tests are difficult but he will always help you out if you ask! after a test he will go over it with you for a long time- doesnt mind spending over an hour explaining! he was a great lab instructor too, always willing to help you. hes just a little awkward!

Warning,do not take this class with this teacher. He should be fired, he is robbing RIC of a salary,and of a position for someone else who would be skilled to actually teach.And he is robbing us of our chance to have a better education. This man should be evaluated on his teaching skills (or lack there of), we pay good money for education, not someone who just regurgitates facts on a level far superior than the "intro" class that its suppose to be. And he puts himself on a pedestal for knowing this material and is insulting and derogatory when you ask questions.

If you want to be set up for failure and waste your tuition on some fact spewing arrogant waste of human flesh professor that can NOT teach if his life depended on it, then by all means sign up for this class. Dr. Meedel knows the information being taught very well. He is an extremely tough teacher but very helpful outside of class. Hard studying is mandatory in order to pass the class. Being a proactive learner also helps because he does admire those to try. He is easy to get the wrong 1st impression, but give him a chance, he is a caring guy.

Meedel can be very helpful and friendly if you go see him after class. However, during class he can come across rude if you ask him a question. He is a tough teacher; my class started off with 50 students and ended with about 10. It is possible to pass, but just like any other science class you have to study and read and you'll do fine.

Attendance is mandatory for labs, if you miss two labs you fail the course, but you don't have to go to all the lectures. He's a helpful professor if you ask questions and his notes are exactly what's on the tests. you don't need the text book, unless you're going ot take 112. If you know some bio it's easy, but you'll learn it in class if not.
