Shier is super kind and truly cares about each and every student. His Honors philosophy class The Good Life was a little too heavy on Greek philosophy, but other than that it was fun and easy. Take the time to get to know him, and always reach out if you have questions.

Best class ever!! Everyone in the class was actually interested in the subject matter and Shier was just incredible. He made impossible logic topics seem easy and fun. I've talked to many phil majors who said this class with Shier was their favorite class in college.

Shier is awesome. He always kept the class entertained, which made it easy to pay attention. He went through the material in detail, making sure we were all understanding and gave plenty of opportunities in class for us to ask questions. The tests were similar to the online example tests. You will ace the tests if you did well on homework.

Very enthusiastic about philosophy and it shows. Keeps everyone involved, and allows class to talk about things they wanted to talk about. Will allow a lot of talking, maybe even too much. Great to listen to, and will get you excited to come to class.
