Comment:

In Character, Dr. Thompson is funny, kind, and shows concern for his students. He does remind me of the stereotypical mad scientist too, LoL! In instructing, his handwriting is sometimes difficult to read. His notes and exercises aren't enough to study alone. He does advise to study from the textbook. I didn't study enough to fairly rate his exams.

A very nice guy. His teaching style leaves a bit to be desired. I would have been better off teaching myself from the book. His examples tend to be trivial compared to the exams. His notes are full of errors. Frequently stresses things that are interesting to himself, leading you to believe they are relevant to the course. often they are not.

very good entertaining prof, i think hes gone now tho, he left without explaination halfway thru this past semester. made it fun to learn and he was the stereotypical mad scientist.

Thompson is a nice guy with a wacky personality, but it has to be said that he doesn't teach what's in the course. You might as well learn it yourself, as he'll go off on any tangent that pleases him and doesnt seem to feel restained by such things as "doing well on the exam." Our entire class did very poorly.

Very nice prof, helpful and wants his students to have a thorough in chemistry. However, he is sometimes unclear and starts off the term teaching each part too slowly, then has to rush through the rest of the material to catch up.

He's so awesome! He's always willing to stay in his office to clear stuff up, works hard to make sure everyone understands in class, and has the best stage presence, ahahahaha. He's the reason I switched to chem! Go Thompson!!

Mixed feelings. He's an awesome guy and definitly knows what he's talking about. But he goes a bit slow and doesn't always cover all the material. He's always there to help though and willing to give extra tutorials.His notes are good but in the lectures can be a bit disjointed. If he used a different medium he could definitly be one of the best.

Not an easy course by any means, but Dr. Dave (as he sometimes refers to himself) tried his best to ensure that we understood the material. He was a little slow and did not cover the last two chapters in class, but he gave free tutorials before each test. A brillant scientist who is passionate about his work and loves helping his students.

He is the stereotype of a mad scientist. He's a bit off-the-wall in terms of jokes, but he has excellent notes that are detailed and well-explained, and he is more than willing to stay and help. He doesn't try to intimidate students or belittle them for not underatnding either. All around nice guy.

hilarious. he's like that crazy scientist you always picture. very enthusiastic, loves teaching. math tends to have errors in it, because he does it on the fly, but a great prof. defiately recommend him

absolutly the best prof that I had this semester. He's very interesting, and clear and also extremly helpful. he always offers tutorials and extra help. also he seemed genuinly concerned about all of his students (love the jokes :)

I really liked this guy. His notes are very clear and really helpful when studying for exams. He's always willing to help either after class or in his ofice. He also give's tutorials before each exam which always help. Also, I don't care what anyone else says, but is jokes/puns are awesome. Overall, a great professor.

For a demanding course, I found him such a great prof. Gives concise and clear notes, cracks some oddball jokes now and again. Real 'mad scientist' appearance. But overall a VERY good prof. Not harsh or snappy at all. Easy to talk to. If I were to grade him back, A+

I LOVE THIS GUY! He has a great sense of humour, gives good notes and is very helpful. He does tend to get a little down on himself though, which he shouldn't. I wish people wouldn't point out every little mistake he makes on the board - give the man a break! Just write down what he says and you'll be fine. No need to complain over a missing word.
