Her lectures are rather boring but if you pay attention and do the reading, you will be fine. If you do like I did, and couldn't afford to buy the books, there are always summaries online that will get you by. If you get on your good side, she will bump up your grade at the end. Stick with it and you'll be great.

This is the second course I have taken with Prof. Fourny. I really enjoy her as a person and as a professor. Her classes mostly consist of lectures and discussion. If you care about the material and are engaged she's a wonderful professor. If your class doesn't like to talk then you're going to be bored, which isn't her fault imo.

Lectures are long and often incredibly boring. Sometimes she can be engaging but it is rare. Lots of reading, but clear paper topics. The class I took seemed to be based more on history than on literature like the course title suggests. However, I would recommend her.

I enjoyed Prof Fourny. She truly cares about your grade & will help you, if you ask for it. There is reading every night, 4 quizzes, and 3 papers: one in class that you can prepare before hand and two out of class. Class dis is crucial to your final grade. She is a tough grader in my opinion but it is all helpful. I would take her again.

I really enjoyed this class. I probably wouldn't be able to stay awake if I had taken the class longer than 1 hr. The papers are easy to comprehend.

Professor Fourny is very nice and a VERY generous grader. You get a nice portion of your grade handed to you for just showing up and talking once a week or so. She is pretty boring, but this may be the easiest A I have earned in college so far. Also, even though she may be a boring lecturer, she knows her stuff, so if you're interested, take her.

yet another "world lit" class that focuses solely on European lit. Where is the diversity in reading selections???

Every single day, we sit at a conference table and she rambles at us. So dull. She does not seem interested at all and her "dicussion" environment is just her talking and telling us why we are wrong.

Appears to lack any kind of passion for teaching. Extremely boring lectures - usually just mumbles quietly to herself. Discussion is painfully pretentious without much actual content. Our semester-long theme through which we studied the texts was "difference" - I'd expect something deeper out of a 6th grade English class. Very disappointing.

Dr. Fourny is above all a specialist in French Lit. but she is a faculty member of HWC and Peace and Conflict Studies. It is in a small French Lit. class that you really get to see her sparkle. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is extremely well-read in world literature. All French majors should take at least one class with her.

I've never been so I-want-to-slit-my-wrists bored in my entire life. The class is easy, and I'm sure she's a nice lady, but it takes something like seventeen espresso shots to survive her lectures.

I really enjoyed that class. I like that I was exposed to literature that I was not aware of. Prof. Fourny introduced a lot of french and ital lit in this class. She made herself available when I needed extra assistance and was not afraid to call people

She at least made western civ organized and halfway enjoyable. Compared to some other western civ professors, I'd say she is the best.
